YOGA. Often people ask me ‘What is ‘Traditional Yoga’, or ‘Spiritual Yoga’?”, and I have to think what to say - What is untraditional or what is traditional…? Today I wanted to write about that.
First of all there is no Yoga without the traditional principle, but how do we know that what we’re doing is right and that it’s Yoga, not something else?
In my experience and practice of Yoga I understand one thing; if we’re looking for this in a book or looking at some spiritual guru, we are in the wrong boat.
I’ve met a lot of people wearing special clothes in ‘spiritual colours’ and malas 📿, but are they really spiritual? Many carry lots of ego, proclaiming that they have a wisdom that others don't.
I think we should just do Yoga and don't worry about anything else, just do it, but make sure do Yoga and not add anything else.
And during the time you do, really try to make yourself present there, and I promise you this; soon you will start to see what you are looking for.
If the question is yours, no one can give you the answer. Even if someone can, it won’t satisfy you, until the answer is your own.
Yoga is the science to understand ourselves better and better.

How not to be affected by the others’ behaviour? Simple. Accept people for who they are. Allow them to be themselves. And it will not affect you. If somebody offers you water, but you expect food, there is a disagreement, and you can be affected. So, accept the water or don’t accept it at all. So, it can’t affect you. If somebody behaves negatively towards you, and you respond in a way that approves the person’s negativity or acknowledges it, you have accepted that negativity. Simply feel gratitude and compassion, and the negativity that someone offers to you remains with them. You have not taken it into your consideration. You can choose if you would like to participate or not participate. So it is not about what people are saying or doing. It is about inner strength. It is about how much compassion, love and kindness you have towards other people and what level of awareness you have not to be affected. Have a steady focus and clear mind.

For years, I’ve cringed at the non-stop flow of ‘goal-setting’ posts that flood our inboxes and newsfeeds throughout the month of January each year.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I 100% advocate sensible goal setting, but only when set goals are just to-do items that enable us to progress closer towards meeting our priorities.

Please don’t confuse priorities with goals, as many people view certain goals AS priorities, and this is why some people never ever experience contentment upon eventually reaching their goals.

Instead of setting goals, establish what your priorities are - and ensure that they are values, not material, professional, financial or relational outcomes.

For example, currently in my life, I want more space and peace than anything else. So, this gives me a basis for deciding what and who I say yes or no to.

If I claim to want space and peace, but do not prioritise ascertaining these things, it’s going to be mere ‘pot-luck’ whether I ever get them or not.

If I want more space and peace, I would be unwise to have a busy schedule, and would be equally unwise to make it my priority to acknowledge every request that comes my way.

While ‘being selfish’ might not seem ‘quite right’ to some people, it’s useful to note that no-one else cares what your priorities are and whether you meet them or not - and this is where selfishness comes in.

Sometimes, to have time and space for the ‘right’ people or projects, we must become disciplined enough to say NO to everyone and everything else.

I trust this lands somewhere useful 😉👍

If you want to understand the body, if you want to understand the nature of your awareness, nature of your consciousness, nature of your thinking pattern, you require to understand the senses. All your senses are only working into experiencing inner peace, inner tranquillity and inner harmony. To learn how to master them, first, you need to become aware of what sensation is happening through them, not just consuming the energy. Self-observation is the key. Once you start to observe yourself, you create a path for transformation, self-understanding, self-realisation.
