Ever notice how you keep working long after you promised yourself you’d stop… and somehow there’s never time left for exercise, proper rest, or even dinner with your family?
Often it’s not about poor time-management — it’s about the story we carry inside.
For many of us, that story started early:
* We were praised for good grades or for being “the helpful one.”
* We felt safe or accepted only when we were achieving or busy.
* We learned that slowing down meant we were lazy or would let someone down.
Those old lessons still whisper in adulthood: “You can’t stop. You haven’t done enough yet.”
That belief can quietly push us to keep working… even when what we truly need is to set a boundary, go for a walk, go to the gym or simply rest.
Here’s a gentle reminder: Rest and connection aren’t rewards for finishing work. They’re part of a full, healthy life — and often the key to doing better work in the long run.
What’s one small boundary you can set for yourself today — closing the laptop on time, or a ten-minute walk before checking emails — to test that new story???
