J E A L O U S

Saying I’m jealous even feels like an understatement.

I’m genuinely perplexed and I have no idea what to choose. This is one of those moments where I wish I could peek into the future and see what life will be like five years down the line.

Deciding whether to do this stem cell transplant or not will undoubtedly change my life… the question is, will it change for the better?

If this was offered to you at this current stage in your life, what would you decide? I’d genuinely love to know 🫶🏽

A D V O C A T E 🗣️

You will never hear me complain about there being too many sickle cell advocates.

For way too long, sickle cell has been misunderstood, underrepresented, and not spoken about enough. That’s why every single voice matters.

Whether you’re sharing your personal journey, educating others, supporting someone you love, or simply raising awareness, you are contributing to a much bigger conversation. Advocacy doesn’t have to look the same for everyone either; it can happen through education, storytelling, research, community work, or simply being open about your experiences.

Her Sickled Journey started as a space for me to share my life with sickle cell…the ups, the downs, and everything in between.
It began as a personal outlet but has grown into something much bigger: a platform for awareness, conversation, and community, and I couldn’t be more proud 😅

So if you’ve been thinking about sharing your story or speaking up… take this as your sign to get started! 💪🏽♥️

Today I want to shout out the people who make living with sickle cell feel a little lighter. The ones who show up with care and patience, the ones who understand hospital stays, cancelled plans, low-energy days, and never make you feel like a burden for needing support.

I feel so covered, understood, and gently reminded all the time that my health does not reduce my worth, and I really thank God for the people He’s placed in my life 🙏🏽

I truly pray that you’re surrounded by people who see you, support you, and remind you that you are never “too much.” And even more than that, I hope you continue to show yourself that same kindness and grace ♥️

W H I C H O N E ? 🤔

Sometimes I think that with the right amount of money, I could create a life that supports me instead of constantly fighting to keep up. For example:

• Relocating to a warmer country
• Taking a more proactive rather than reactive approach to my healthcare
• Regular physio, therapy & recovery support
• Help around the house
• Comfortable travel & flexible working options
• Better nutrition, wellness support & rest when I actually need it
• Investing more time into purpose, creativity & peace of mind

But then again… knowing how unpredictable sickle cell can be, the idea of being completely sickle-cell-free feels priceless 💭

So I’m curious…

What would you pick, the money or the treatment? 👇🏽

Simply because it’s safer.

In this video, I talk about the need for blood for people living with sickle cell, but the issue is bigger than sickle cell.

If you or a loved one are ever in a position where you need blood (God forbid), you want to be rest assured that the blood you’re receiving is the best possible match.

That’s why we need more Black blood donors… and while I’m at it, the same applies to organ donation 👀

Let’s not wait until it’s too late 🤎

can’t a babe be anaemic in peace? 😂

& before people come for me, I know this isn’t the correct dose for people with sickle cell, I had to buy it at a time when I didn’t have access to my prescription & using this was better than using nothing at all 👀

D I D Y O U K N O W ?

Earlier this week I was asked “What does folic acid actually do?” and my mind went completely blank… crazy, I know.

I’ve been prescribed folic acid for most of my life and still couldn’t confidently explain what it does. I knew it had something to do with red blood cells, but that was about it. So off to Google I went, and here’s what I found out.
In sickle cell, red blood cells only live about 10–20 days instead of the usual 120. Because the body has to replace them so quickly, folic acid helps support the bone marrow so it can make new, healthy red blood cells at a faster rate.

…so excuse me while I take my part‑time‑medicine‑using self to actually go and take my folic acid 😂
