British Healthcare Trades Association

British Healthcare Trades Association We are at the forefront of improving standards for the provision of quality healthcare and assistive technologies.

We bring the healthcare and assistive technology industry together to help shape and improve the health and care of the nation through our three core pillars of work – consumer protection, membership services, and policy and standards. Founded in 1917, the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) is a not-for-profit trade association that has been championing better healthcare for over 100 years. Our more than 400 members of retailers, installers, service providers, distributors and manufacturers range from sole traders to multinationals within the UK’s healthcare and assistive technology sector, employing over 18,500 people. We bring the industry together to help shape and improve the health and care of the nation through our three core pillars of work – consumer protection, membership services, and policy and standards. Each and every BHTA member commits to adhering to our Code of Practice – the first and only code in the healthcare industry to have been approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI). This code ensures that those who need our members’ products and services can trust that the company is professional, ethical, and has their best interests at heart.

Access to the right disability equipment can be the difference between independence and isolation.

That is why this recent Westminster Hall debate matters. MPs spoke about delays, unequal access and the impact that gaps in provision can have on disabled people and their families. The debate was informed by 626 people who shared their experiences ahead of the discussion, underlining just how widespread concern is.
