Save Face recently worked with Channel 5 News on an undercover investigation exposing a bogus “surgeon” performing high-risk cosmetic surgeries, including facelifts and blepharoplasties, in a living room. Please bear in mind that cosmetic surgery is medical surgery and it deserves medical standards.

Upper lid blepharoplasty recovery often causes the most anxiety.

When someone has very heavy eyelids and low brows, I sometimes need to place the eyelid crease higher to properly clear the hoods and restore the visual field. At one week post-op, this can look frightening — swollen, tight, even like a temporary droop. This is completely normal.

That early phase can feel alarming, but swelling takes 6–8 weeks to truly settle. By three months, the lid position softens, the crease relaxes, and everything looks far more natural, exactly as planned.

In this patient’s case, a brow lift would have been beneficial, but she didn’t want one. By carefully setting the crease higher during blepharoplasty, I achieved excellent hood clearance and a natural result without touching the brows.

If needed, brows can always be addressed years down the line.

Trust the process, the early swelling passes, and the results are worth the wait.👁✨
