The Finders Ireland team were delighted to attend the West Cork Bar Association Conference 2025 in beautiful Inchydoney, Clonakilty.

We had the pleasure of hosting a stand and our very own Lorna delivered a talk on our Probate Pre-Check Service, highlighting how it can help practitioners avoid common probate application errors.

🎉 A big congratulations to Denise Kelleher of Denise Kelleher & Associates Solicitors – the winner of our raffle prize!

It was a fantastic event, and we’d like to thank the organisers and everyone who stopped by to chat with us.

When Geoffrey Clements, 76, former politician and University of Sussex graduate, died in hospital in Worthing in May 2024, he had not made a will.

Finders International were instructed to find all those entitled to inherit his estate.

He left an estate valued at around £450,000, and in total, 15 relatives were identified – each entitled to a share of his estate.

We often uncover very interesting lives during the course of our research – and Geoffrey’s life is another example of that. While we have no idea what his final wishes would have been, we are pleased that his estate has been distributed among the rightful heirs.

At Finders International, we’re proud to support WRAP’s Recycle Week (22–28 September) ♻️

Why it matters? Recycling conserves resources, saves energy, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Small actions add up to big change.

Our London office stats (last 3 months):
· 1,250 kg recycled
· Nearly 14 trees saved
· 1.86 tonnes of CO₂ saved

What we recycle in the office: Electronics • Confidential Paper • Printer Cartridges • Mixed Recycling • Batteries • Crisp Packets • Food Waste

Working from home? You can help too:
· Separate recyclables & check council guidelines
· Turn off electronics when not in use
· Reuse packaging & supplies
· Compost where possible

Together, we’re building a culture of sustainability for our staff – at work and at home 🌱

Finding heirs isn’t always straightforward. Families can be dispersed, records incomplete, and delays costly.

That's where we come in.

In our latest blog, we explore:

✔️ What the King’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer (KLTR)* expects from practitioners
✔️ The challenges for solicitors, estate administrators and guardians
✔️ How professional probate research helps reduce risk and delays
✔️ Case study from Renfrewshire

* (When a person dies intestate, confirming who has the authority to administer their estate can be complex. In Scotland, the King’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer (KLTR) requires that all reasonable steps are taken to trace next of kin before an estate is referred to the National Ultimus Haeres Unit.)

💡 Did you know that US States can take custody of assets they believe to be ‘abandoned’?

For UK estates with American shares or dividends, this can become a hidden trap. Something as simple as uncashed dividend cheques, a change of address, or even post not being forwarded can trigger escheatment - where assets are liquidated and passed to a State’s Unclaimed Property department.

The good news? These funds never expire. The not-so-good news? Recovering them is a complex, time-consuming process. Executors and probate practitioners must prove ownership, entitlement and authority to exacting standards, often facing further hurdles when it comes to receiving payment.

At Finders International, our International Asset Services team helps practitioners navigate this overlooked corner of estate administration, recovering funds that might otherwise remain locked away indefinitely.

The best way to strengthen collaboration? Learning directly from each other. 🤝

On Friday, we were delighted to host Michael Robinson and Thomas Jagger from Ramsdens Solicitors LLP who delivered a brilliant training session on estate administration for the Finders International team.

They walked us through the process from a solicitor’s perspective - from initial instructions right through to distribution - highlighting key timelines, common challenges, and how complex estates are managed in practice. It was an opportunity for our staff to ask questions, exchange ideas, and gain insight into the responsibilities solicitors balance throughout the entire process.

Sessions like this strengthen our mutual understanding and ensure we can better support one another with our shared expertise. We’re looking forward to putting these learnings into practice as we continue to deliver the best possible service for our clients and beneficiaries.

Last Friday, our Finders team laced up their walking shoes for a summer stroll around the beautiful Hampstead Heath — all in support of AtaLoss Charity and the Irish Hospice Foundation.

The afternoon was filled with fresh air, scenic trails, and a few light-hearted activities along the way, each inspired by our theme of “finding.” From forest paths and bathing ponds to Parliament Hill’s sweeping views, we enjoyed plenty of stops, laughs, and a chance to connect outside the office.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in, donated, and brought such great energy to the day — and to the team for putting it all together. 🧡

Here’s to more walks, discoveries, and team moments like this one!
