The Conception of Thoracic Forum by Mr PB Rajesh.

Mr. Pala B. Rajesh, Consultant Thoracic Surgeon (retired), Birmingham formerly of Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and a former Vice President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh was invited by the Ministry of Health, Malta for the 350th anniversary of the school of anatomy and surgery celebrations. He was awarded the 350th Anniversary Medal by the Health Minister Mr. Jo etienne Abela, a fellow of RCS Edinburgh in recognition for his vast contributions to surgery and graduate examinations in Malta.

Professor Indu Deglurkar has been a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon for 18 years and is based at the University Hospital of Wales. She is the Chair of EACTS Women in Cardiothoracic Surgery and with her team, was instrumental in the introduction of two Francis Fontan Fellowships in Leadership for women every year. Indu is an Elected Trustee for the SCTS and has served as Editor-in-Chief for six years.. Her professional work has been showcased in two episodes of BBC’s Saving Lives in Cardiff series 2 in 2025.

As in previous years, Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland attended at the SCTS Annual Conference 2026 in Belfast. They exhibited and participated in key discussions. It was a pleasure having them.

Their presence at SCTS continues to play an important role in advancing the global campaign, an initiative focused on saving lives by improving recognition and treatment pathways for patients presenting with severe unexplained chest or abdominal pain.
