Kapalbhati pranayama is also known as ā€˜breath of fire’. This is a clearing and cleansing practice through breath work. Kapala means skull and bhati means to shine, polish, cleanse; so Kapalabhati means Skull Shining Breath. It is a heating technique that increases the digestive fire by strengthening, massaging and toning the abdominal muscles and digestive organs and oxygenates the blood. It improves circulation especially to the brain which gives the skull shining effect.

Three-part deep breathing is the foundation of all the yogic breathing techniques. Studies have shown that you can take in and give out seven times as much air—that means seven times as much oxygen, seven times as much prana (life force/Chi)—in a three-part deep breath than in a shallow ā€œnormalā€ breath.

In Deergha Swasam, we breathe slowly and deeply while envisioning that we are filling our lungs from bottom to top—first by expanding the abdomen, then the middle rib cage, and finally the upper chest. When exhaling, we envision the breath emptying in reverse, from top to bottom, pulling in the abdomen slightly at the end to empty the lungs completely.

Deerga Swasam Pranayama is the best way to oxygenate and detoxify the cells of the body through the breath. Oxygen + Less Toxins = More Energy

Nadi Shodhana or Alternate Nostril Breathing

The basis of alternate-nostril breathing is controlling your breath with focused attention. This kind of deep breathing has many benefits for the mind and body as it regulates the nervous system.
It’s said that a few minutes of this alternate nostril breathing each day helps to de-stress and release accumulated tension and fatigue by lowering your heart rate. As you shift your focus between your left and right nostrils, your mind naturally becomes more centered and focused. It can clear out blocked energy channels in the body and harmonise the left and right hemispheres of the brain – both of which can reduce anxiety levels

The adi mudra is also thought to stimulate the brain, which is closely related to the crown (sahasrara) chakra that governs an individual's sense of peace, higher awareness and oneness with the universe.

It is recommended to practice adi mudra in a quiet setting while meditating and focusing on the breath, with palms facing down on your thighs in a seated pose, such as padmasana (lotus pose). Because this mudra calms and soothes the nervous system, it can be beneficial to incorporate into the end of an asana practice.

Vaayan refers to the ā€˜Vaat’ humor in the body which recognizes the properties of air. The effect of air and space elements on the body is enormous and reaps several benefits when practiced the right way. The Vaayan Mudra facilitates your control over the nervous system, making you more self-aware.
Other benefits include overcoming laziness, lethargy, drowsiness, excessive sweating, thirst and excessive sleep. Reducing frequent urination issues, controlling excessive menstrual bleeding, and treating greasy skin and hair issues

This mudra takes care of the air element in your body. It will control or regulate the movement of air inside your body which will make your body healthy in the long run.
It helps to relieve gas in the stomach and the intestines. It also helps to relieve arthritis, joint pains and sciatica; all related to a Vata imbalance.
If you are doing it immediately after food, it is good to sit in Vajrasana as it improves digestion as well.

Prana / Pran Mudra

The major part of our body is earth and water. When you touch these three fingers - ring (representing earth) little (representing water) and thumb
(representing fire) flow of vital energy begins in our body. This
not only increases stamina, vitality, strength and immunity but also it improves blood flow in the body and removes any blockages in blood vessels. Practising this Mudra makes a person both mentally and
physically strong. It's a great tool to use when you feel drained, fatigued, low or depressed.
