Home Instead's ethos is to 'change the face of ageing' and it is with extreme passion and commitment that we are here in your local community. Just because you are elderly doesn't mean you have to stop living. By providing a service of companionship and care to someone when they need it is so simple but can be got so wrong! I have experienced the wrong side of care for both my parents who I lost to motor neurone disease and breast cancer a few years ago. It was at a time when I had two small boys and not enough time to give to my parents. I had to place my trust in others' and when good care is not provided, it can have such an impact on everyone concerned. I want Home Instead to become your trusted companion for your loved one and for us to be an extension of your own family. We will do what we say we are going to do when we say we are going to! The same person will come at the right time on the right day to do what you want. Our clients include individuals who have come to us themselves, older children who have referred their parents or relatives, people who receive direct payments from the local authority and clients referred to us by the Primary Care Trust. Regardless of how you come to Home Instead, it is my goal to provide the same level of help and care that I wanted for my parents. Since welcoming our new Relationship Manager, Melanie Burgess, who has been out and about chatting to people about the services we offer, we’ve noticed a rise in enquiries for companionship support.

More and more families are recognising something important - Mum doesn’t always need care, sometimes she needs company.

She needs someone to go for coffee with, to enjoy a shopping trip with, or to keep up her regular hair appointments, but most importantly to stay connected to the routines and places that bring her joy.

Companionship is about preserving independence, confidence, and identity. It’s about continuing to live life, not just being looked after. It’s as important as doing your exercises and eating healthily!

It’s encouraging to see families thinking differently and focusing on wellbeing, not just care needs.

Age UK Surrey supports older adults and families across Surrey and parts of SW London with advice, social activities, digital support, befriending and help at home.

These kinds of community services can be a brilliant first step, especially for people who want to stay active, informed and connected.

🌟A Special Morning of Celebration at Home Instead🌟

Last week we had the pleasure of surprising our wonderful Live-in Care team with a celebratory breakfast to recognise what has been an incredible 12 months.

Thanks to their dedication, compassion and commitment to providing truly outstanding care, our Live-in Care service has grown significantly over the past year — now proudly supporting 38 clients.

What makes this achievement so special is not the numbers, but what they represent: more people being able to remain safe, comfortable and happy in their own homes, with the support of exceptional Care Professionals.

We were also honoured to be joined (via Zoom!) by Ruth Brown, Managing Director of Home Instead UK, who kindly took the time to congratulate the team personally. It was a fantastic moment and a real reminder of the impact our Care Professionals make every single day.
