Do you ever find it difficult to focus on the right now? Does your mind tend to wander while you're in social situation because you're anxious about whether you're doing the right thing?

Here are some tips on how to focus more on the present moment, instead of spending too much time in your head.

🔷 Breathe - Take a few deep breaths. Breathing calms the nervous system.

🔷 Meditate - Mindfulness quiets the areas of the brain that are responsible for the chattering of the mind. Close your eyes, take deep breaths and try to clear your mind of all thought.

🔷Do something physical - Override your internal dialogue with a physical activity

🔷 Talk to someone - Talking to someone has the power to make your worries fade away. Other people can guide you through your thoughts and make you understand that what you're anxious about is normal, and that you're already on he right path to handling things.

A lot of pressure is put on people, whether at work or in our personal lives.

Try to pace yourself as best you can. Treasure those moments of calm and happiness in between. And remember to say no when it gets too much.

Many people experience both anxiety and depression simultaneously. This is because of the nature of the symptoms of both disorders being so related that there is overlap.

For instance, if your anxiety caused you to panic then this could trigger lingering feelings of discouragement, worthlessness and lack of motivation; most commonly associated with depression.

The posts we find on social media can be triggering. And engaging in the negativity can have long-term implications on our mental health.

Sometimes we may even overshare without realising and this can cause friction, either within our social circles or with total strangers.

Here's a few considerations when using social media:

🔵 Understand its okay to ignore & mute content - If you see something that triggers you or brings about negative energy, understand that you have every right to ignore, mute or block it. Try not to take anyone that you don't know too seriously. Sometimes people like to be negative for their own personal amusement.

🔵 Know the purpose of each post you write - If you're going to reply to something or post something, think about the goal of the post. What are you trying to say? What reactions might it encourage? - Sometimes we may use social media as our diary or journal. But some thoughts are better shared in a private place or with those closest to us. That brings us to the next point...

🔵 Think twice before posting. - Hesitating and thinking before each post or reply will decrease the likelihood of you regretting sharing something. Take a few seconds before hitting the button.
