Thank you for stopping by this little corner of the internet! My name is Talia Cecchele and I am the founder and lead dietitian at TCN.

I opened the TCN clinic in 2021 as a way of supporting more humans across the globe to ditch the diet mentality and bring balance back to nutrition.

We work with a non-diet and weight inclusive approach and offer 1:1 nutrition support, group meal support and group courses in our virtual clinic.

A few special days of celebrating another lap of the sun with my closest friends. Featuring delicious food, two birthday cakes (because I weirdly baked my own birthday cake and I didn't realise one was being made for me as a surprise), a rainbow, sunshine and lots of laughter.

This last 12 months has featured more tears, overwhelm and challenges than previous years, but there have been more moments of wonderful times which sometimes get overshadowed!

I've collated 10 pieces of wisdom/reflections, carrying on the birthday tradition.

1. Resilience is my superpower, what's yours?
2. Things happen for a reason, even if you can't see it in the moment
3. Your community is one of the most important things in life. 4. Make time for the people that bring you energy
5. My daily check of all of our house plants brings me so much joy
6. What are the small things in life that bring a smile to your day? Mine are my morning coffee, seeing my plants sprout new leaves, dancing in the kitchen, seeing the sun peep through the clouds
7. Talk about your challenges, and express how you are feeling. It's healing and powerful
8. Don't delay starting therapy!

10. Smile, laugh, cry, do things that scare you because the years pass by too quickly!

I was inspired by brilliant presentation at the London Eating Disorder Conference yesterday. Fiona was one of the expert by experience guests and spoke about her journey with treatment for anorexia nervosa and autism.

What really struck me was when she shared how that receiving her autism diagnosis (in her early 20's) finally gave her the clarity that she had been seeking for so long that there was nothing wrong with her. She was not unpredictable, non-compliant, challenging or a "failed" admission, she was different.

And different is not wrong.

We are learning more about the treatment of eating disorders than ever before. Some key stats that stood out yesterday were that it is estimated that over 1/3 of people with a eating disorder might have autism AND up to 1/4 of women with anorexia nervosa are autistic.

We need to continue to adapt our treatment, be flexible in the support that we offer and learn from experts by experience.

Eating disorders are coping mechanisms. Please hear me when I say that there is nothing wrong with you ❤️
