Choosing between a chemical peel, laser treatment or IPL can feel overwhelming when all you really want is clearer, smoother, more even skin. At our Harley Street clinic, we see this question every week – often from patients who have read conflicting advice online or tried over-the-counter solutions without much success.

The reality is that there is no single “best” treatment; the right choice depends on your skin type, main concern and how much downtime you can realistically manage. Our consultant dermatologists offer a full range of skin rejuvenation, laser skin treatments and IPL photorejuvenation within our consultant-led cosmetic dermatology service, and the peels and laser treatments are also performed by our Laser and Aesthetic Practitioner, so we can help you compare options and build a plan that suits you rather than fitting you into a one‑size‑fits‑all package.

Coming soon - Reverse by Aerolase

Reverse by Aerolase is coming soon to the Devonshire Clinic.

So what is it?

Reverse by Aerolase is an innovative dual-laser treatment that delivers comprehensive skin rejuvenation by targeting both dermis and epidermis layers simultaneously. This two-step treatment brings both corrective and preventative benefits. With its gentle yet powerful energy output, Reverse by Aerolase promotes the natural process of collagen production, resulting in improved skin elasticity and structural integrity. This boost in collagen enhances the skin’s resilience, elasticity, and texture.

It is important to remember that melanoma is a rare condition, and most moles that are biopsied will come up negative for cancer, however it is always best to have these moles checked to be sure.

If it is caught early, the standard treatment for melanoma skin cancer is the surgical removal of the cancerous cells. If all the cells are successfully removed, there is little chance that the cancer will return.

If the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, then these too will need to be removed. You will also need close monitoring and further treatment to avoid the cancer returning. If the cancer has spread to other organs you may be offered other treatments such as chemotherapy.

Four decades ago, a deceptively simple mnemonic transformed how clinicians, and eventually the public, recognised melanoma. The ABCDs of melanoma, now embedded in medical education and clinical practice worldwide, began not as a grand initiative but as a practical teaching solution developed by 3 dermatologists at New York University (NYU) seeking to clarify what early melanoma actually looks like.

The initial idea emerged from a straightforward question: How could clinicians teach pattern recognition for a disease where early detection is absolutely critical?

Swedish Study Links Tattoos to a 29% Higher Risk of Cutaneous Melanoma

The incidence of cutaneous melanoma has risen markedly over the past 3 decades, largely attributed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure. However, increasing interest has focused on potential chemical risk factors, such as tattoo ink. This population-based case-control study investigated whether tattoo exposure is associated with an increased risk of cutaneous melanoma.

The studies findings estimated a 29% higher melanoma risk in tattooed individuals

More people die of melanoma per year in the UK than in Australia. Yet nearly 9 in 10 of cases of melanoma are preventable, and increasing numbers of people are being diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer. There are now more than 18,300 new cases each year in the UK

Many of these moles or lesions do NOT end up being anything serious; however, it is always important to be diagnosed early, as early-stage melanomas are generally curable.

At the Devonshire Clinic, we encourage everyone to be sun-safe and learn more about sunscreens and skin safety.

Upcoming Aesthetic Innovations in 2026

The leading theme at the recent American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, was momentum. Dermatology clinicians were consistently discussing smarter resurfacing, tighter skin, regenerative treatments, and a noticeable shift toward aesthetic work that looks completely undetectable.

Advancements in resurfacing technology, such as Acclaro, are enhancing collagen remodelling, offering improved outcomes for wrinkles and large pores with minimal recovery time.

Laser coring, particularly with the UltraClear laser, is emerging as a versatile technique, though concerns about recovery remain as safety improves.

Sleep quality makes a big impact on one’s health — but what about its impact on rosacea? In a recent National Rosacea Society survey, 830 rosacea patients shared their experiences with sleep—whether they get enough or not, if a good night’s sleep helps with symptoms, and more. A little over a third (40.5%) said rosacea negatively affected their ability to get enough sleep. On the other hand, around two-thirds (61.4%) said getting a good night’s sleep improved their symptoms. At base, it all depends on the individual.

Advances in stem cells, exosomes, biomaterials, and RNA technologies are expanding therapeutic options beyond traditional wound-based remodelling.

Conventional energy-based and chemical resurfacing approaches produce a controlled scar via inflammatory remodelling, whereas regenerative strategies aim to normalise architecture and function by modulating fibroblast plasticity and extracellular matrix composition.

Regenerative pillars encompass stem/progenitor-cell platforms, scaffold-guided tissue engineering, soluble biologics, exosome-mediated signalling, and RNA-based gene-expression modulation without genomic alteration.
