Virginia developed macular oedema following a haemorrhage, causing fluid to build up in her eye and putting her vision at risk. Left untreated or not managed properly, this can lead to significant sight loss and loss of independence.

Even experienced surgeons can become patients.

Mr Amir Hamid, a cataract and refractive surgeon who has performed more than 10,000 operations, suddenly noticed a dark patch appear in his vision while exercising.
Being very short-sighted (high myope), he immediately recognised the warning sign of a retinal detachment, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated quickly.

He contacted Mr Chien Wong at OCL Vision and was seen the same day for urgent treatment.
