Addressing the societal structures which weigh so heavily on women.

Let us have imperfections. Let us be human. Let us just BE.

That pesky patriarchal pressure of perfection…

Why do I keep banging on and on about it?

Because it is such a weight on our shoulders.

It sneaks in everywhere, even into our bathrooms.

We are washed with these pressurising messages that we aren’t good enough, that we need to change ourselves and that we also need to spend money on removing our imperfections.

I go into this in more depth in today’s F*ck It Friday newsletter - aptly covering why we need to say “f*ck that patriarchal pressure of perfection”.

That feeling when you're back to your favourite yoga class, with Natasha, the resident yoga expert of Burn Bright...
..and playfulness, strength and courage, managing to do a shoulder stand today!

I never "had the time" for this before, but now I MAKE the time.

Especially when I'm busy, like now, in the middle of enrolment for this round of Burn Bright, my transformational group coaching programme for high-striving women who want to achieve great things and have a positive impact in the world - without the negative impact on themselves.

That's why I go to a 90 min yoga even when I am busy - to bring in some ease and peace when full up.

Like an ambitious working woman said on a Burn Bright clarity call this week:

"I have so much I want to achieve, that I put self-care at the bottom of the pile."

I told her that we can work towards shifting that to:

"I have so much I want to achieve, that I make self-care a priority. "

Imagine what you could accomplish if you are well rested. 🔥

Imagine what it's costing you to NOT be...😵‍💫

How do you meet yourself where you are at, as the person you are, with the energy you have in that moment?

With kindness and compassion, or with pushing through?

I am tired today. 😴

🥳 I have spoken to a HR director about an upcoming talk I am delivering on mental health, stress and burnout...

🥳 I did an Instagram live today about my group coaching programme Burn Bright...

🥳 I did an hour with my PA about boring accounting things (thanks for the body doubling!) and sent some invoices.

This on the back of having solo parented two young kids on a trip to Sweden for the first week of the Easter holidays. 😵‍💫

I am tired. I am in launch mode, which is energetically taxing in itself.

So I reflected on what someone told me on a Burn Bright clarity call this week:

🤯 "I have so much to achieve, that I put self-care at the bottom of the pile".

Let's shift that, I told her.

🧘‍♀️"I have so much to achieve, that I make self-care a priority."

That new statement will feel alien and clunky at first, but acting AS IF it is true, choosing activities to replenish your energy after something stretchy, will feed back in to your self-worth.

You will act like someone who prioritises self-care, in a self-compassionate way, and with practice, it will become your truth. ❤️‍🩹

I have laid with eyes closed and taken deep breaths, I cooked and ate a nourishing lunch, read a new book and did somatic exercises afterwards. I have painted and checked in with my work wife .
