In this episode, I explores the connection between rest and creativity, challenging the hustle culture notion that constant productivity leads to success.

I emphasise that great ideas often come during moments of relaxation, not while grinding away at tasks. I also delve into the neurological basis for why rest enhances creativity, especially for neurodivergent individuals.

I give practical tips for incorporating short breaks and restful activities into daily routines to foster creativity and maintain mental well-being.

You’re are invited to join ‘The Reset,’ a free seven-day program designed to help regulate the nervous system, ultimately fueling productivity and innovation.

Do you seize opportunities to create a pocket of rest for yourself?

How would you feel if you listened to a calming meditation instead of scrolling on your phone?

It IS okay to have moments of just BEING, not constantly thinking of what you need to be DOING.

Trust me, I'm a Clinical Psychologist with a busy ADHD brain, young ND kids and a successful business.

It's a lot.

So I need the pauses. And so do you.

Come along for The Reset experience 22-28th of September, and I can show you my easiest tools so you don't get overwhelmed.

One email a day, one short video explaining the WHY and then a little practice to show you the HOW.

Still can't stop myself from doing it, am I right?! 🤣

Coming up with bright ideas full of passion and then having to execute them, which is the hardest part. 🙈

Here's a love nudge at my operations manager Laura for holding the fort when I get a bright new idea, helping me to implement it. ❤️

And another one for my assistant Kim who tells it to me straight when something just won't work. ❤️

And ta muchly also to my business coach who is sending me fun reels about ADHD business owners - takes one to know one, lol! ❤️

So here's the bright idea:

In order for you to continue to spark bright ideas of your own, and make progress in your work and not feel like a grim-looking dishrag in the process:

✨️ YOU NEED A RESET. ✨️

Seven days, seven simple reset practices, seven small shifts which get you back on track onto feeling calmer again.

If you're in, comment RESET!

Nah mate, you're not failing.

Everyone else isn't delightfully pushing their kids on a swing in the playground, living their best lives and treasuring every moment of the "18 summers".

Especially not those of us with intense neurodivergent kids, anticipating the next meltdown or worrying about having to force them to have a shower because the heat makes them sweat more...

The juggle is hard, and if you're trying to make ends meet at work at the same time as being so connected and playful and kind and fun and nourishing and stimulating and regulating and just the BEST PARENT EVER...

You might be kinda tired by now.

Getting close to burning out even.

Today after dropping the kids, I sat and did some breathwork exercise with and then I took a slow walk in the sunshine, in my yellow sunshine dress, and took in the good of the peace that settled in me.

After two weeks of travelling in Sweden and long solo parenting and being out of routine and regulation.

✨️ I'm not failing because I'm enjoying every moment of a bit of peace and quiet. Neither are you. ✨️

Want a little pause pocket for yourself too? Comment CALM and my Michaela bot will send you a free guide to calming the overwhelm.

Sunshine or yellow dresses not included.

I am not immune to executive dysfunction... just because I am expert on it in others. As you know, I support female entrepreneurs to navigate the challenges of ADHD while balancing the demands of their busy businesses. It can be WILD, and full of chaos.

But what about the chaos I bring with my own ADHD brain?

In this episode of the Make More Money Online without Selling Your Soul podcast, I sit down with Polly Lavarello , my own business coach, to discuss all things ADHD and business:

✨ my own journey of recognising and managing ADHD as a business owner
✨ how it shapes my work with ADHD clients
✨ the relief and grief of assessment and diagnosis
✨ practical ways of working with your brain, rather than against it - using compassion

This is both vulnerable and vibey - so do tune in!

In this week’s newsletter you’ll see screenshots from people whose work I’ve looked up to, from people whose work I’ve connected with on Instagram over the years, who have hit burnout, and I want them to be a lesson for you 💕

Having watched these women admit their mistakes, their failures, their shortcomings, the cost that ignoring their energy and capacity has meant for them….

…I don’t want this for you.

I don’t want you to hit another burnout cycle because you didn’t listen.

You didn’t spot the signs 😔

Working on perfectionism is not just an inside job, it is an outside job too.
Addressing the societal structures which weigh so heavily on women.

Let us have imperfections. Let us be human. Let us just BE.

That pesky patriarchal pressure of perfection…

Why do I keep banging on and on about it?

Because it is such a weight on our shoulders.

It sneaks in everywhere, even into our bathrooms.

We are washed with these pressurising messages that we aren’t good enough, that we need to change ourselves and that we also need to spend money on removing our imperfections.

I go into this in more depth in today’s F*ck It Friday newsletter - aptly covering why we need to say “f*ck that patriarchal pressure of perfection”.

In this episode of the Pause Purpose Play podcast, I tackle the often-neglected concept of rest, especially for individuals with ADHD and perfectionists.

I present rest as the best-kept secret of high performance, crucial for achieving more and preventing burnout.

The episode explores the resistance many feel towards allowing themselves to rest, labelling rest as an act of rebellion against the pressures of a perfectionist, patriarchal society.

Through listener questions and personal insights, I discuss the importance of rest for both mental and physical well-being and introduce the Pause Purpose Play Mini Mastermind designed to help ambitious women find balance, meaning, and fun.

The episode emphasizes that resting and recovering are essential for achieving ambitious goals sustainably, without falling into the burnout trap.

What we are passionate about

At The Thomas Connection, the most important thing is how we relate to others. We focus on guiding you to create a healthier connection with yourself, to help you step into the best version of yourself. Helping you perform without the pressure of perfection, so you can build a more meaningful and fulfilling life, following your true desires. We guide you so you can form a deeper connection with your partner in your relationship. So you can be brave enough to foster a more authentic connection to your friends, daring to be vulnerable with them and asking for support when you need it rather than worrying about not being perfect. So you can melt into that connection with your child, allowing yourself to be an imperfect parent. A good enough parent. The Thomas Connection was born out of our human need for nurture and connection, as we believe that we can all be the best versions of ourselves with a little support from someone.
