I was not aware of this Ted Talk before. Go take a look, read or listen.
Might be helpful to some in organising their training, their expectations of themselves (mostly I have to say really unrealistic in terms of output versus time and imput), the shoes the equipment…and just generally to have a more realistic comparison in terms of the components and factors of body type, mindset etc.
For me during a massage I may interact in some specific similar way with two different people and set them up for two completely different results. For an elite mover, a micro millimetre of change or a very subtle shift in proprioception can make a huge difference for them to employ when no longer on the table. But in someone unable to feel literally their own ‘backside’ sitting on the chair, and without the recruitment patterns requisite to a refined engagement in a skill, we are looking a totally different level of outcome, if any. Horses for courses is the expression..
None of which should put you off in adapting and enjoying your hobby and activity!
