We don’t just do restaurants…we do meeting rooms, and lots of them! But like everyone else, we can’t talk about them. But, this time we can shout from the rooftops about our latest project with IPC Systems! 🙌

We delivered turnkey AV and IT integration at IPC Systems’ new Devonshire Square offices, bringing an enterprise-grade AV Cisco conferencing solution with BYOD to life across multiple spaces, from standard meeting rooms to boardrooms and hybrid communal areas.

🔉 A huge shout-out to the incredible manufacturers who made this possible 👉 Cisco , Samsung Electronics, QSC, Blustream, Shure UK, SCT, Future Automation and Audac.

We are really chuffed with this project. Go check out the full story - https://bit.ly/4pA4CeQ

🚀 The tapes have landed!

That’s right - Tateside-branded tape measures, each with lovingly hand-stuck labels, are now in the hands of some very lucky recipients.

isn’t about precision (well, maybe a little). It’s about pushing a humble tape measure to its questionable limits, filming the chaos, and seeing just how far it can go before it flops...

Think of it as part competition, part AV absurdity, and part “let’s just see what happens.” 😆

💡 Pro tip: The more daring your stretch, the higher your chances on the weekly leaderboard, and maybe even the ultimate ISE prize.

AV engineers are known for two things: flawless installs… and finding very creative ways to use an 8m tape measure when there’s nothing left to measure. 😏

💡 That’s exactly how The Inches Game was born.

We asked a simple question: how far, how high, and in how many wildly questionable situations can a tape measure go before it gives up completely?

Now we want YOU involved. 🫵

Whether you’re an AV engineer, supplier, competitor, or just someone who enjoys watching physics (and dignity) be challenged - this one’s for you.

Stretch it. Film it. Post it. Keep it family-friendly… but we won’t judge the innuendo.

We’ll be running a weekly leaderboard, celebrating the boldest, bravest and most unnecessarily committed tape-stretchers, with the ultimate winner crowned at and rewarded with a prize that’s as spectacular as it is unnecessary.

Nothing kills the vibe faster than a silent playlist in a busy restaurant. Awkward… uncomfortable… and very noticeable. 😳

🎬 This is How AV You Done It? - our behind-the-scenes series where we skip the glossy installs and show the gritty, technical work that keeps systems actually working in the real world.

🛠️ In this episode, Edgar (who heads up AV Support here at Tateside) shows how we use remote monitoring tools to spot problems as they happen, and often before anyone on site even realises there’s an issue.

Automated alerts flag faults instantly, letting us log straight into the audio system, follow the signal path, find the cause, and get things back up and running fast. In most cases, no engineer, no site visit, no downtime.

💡 From audio to video and everything in between, we’re constantly keeping an eye on our clients’ systems, quietly fixing problems and bringing the soundtrack back to life.

🎬 We’re back with Episode 2 of How AV You Done It? - our behind-the-scenes series where we ditch the glossy installs and show the less polished, nerdy under-the-hood stuff that actually makes AV work.

We’re always looking for little ways to make our systems feel better to use, and this time Sean put together a really handy bit of Lua scripting to help with exactly that.

💡 Introducing: The Perceptual Gain Block

🔉 Most people assume 50% on a volume fader equals 50% of what they hear, but it doesn’t quite work that way. We noticed clients living in the top section of the fader because the middle just didn’t feel responsive.

So Sean wrote a clever bit of scripting to smooth everything out, making the fader respond in a way that feels way more natural and predictable.

A subtle tweak. A big boost to user experience.

☔️ It’s December in Manchester… which means it’s definitely raining, and we’re definitely wet! But we’ve been working on something very cool, it almost makes it all worth it!

We were asked to create a media artwork piece for the brand-new Soho House Manchester, celebrating the history of the iconic Granada building and their new home up here Norf! 🙌

And we went full retro…😎

We designed bespoke TV enclosures with serious nostalgic charm, complete with vac-formed Perspex fronts, crafted by the incredibly talented crew at Spur Creative.

Next week, we’ll be installing square monitors inside each enclosure and powering everything with BrightSign, LLC players.

We’ve also teamed up with the absolute legend Hexstatic to create a synchronised content loop that’ll bring the piece to life.

Final install coming soon, until then… we’ll be drying our socks. Oh wait, London’s raining too! 🙄

💥 What a way to wrap up the 2025 season. Somehow, the office walls DID survive the JBL takeover (we’re still not sure how the four SRX918S subs didn’t redecorate the place), and Phil Ashby and Chris Baker absolutely delivered. 💃

True pros behind the decks, they took us on a journey from house classics to proper wobblers, and the energy didn’t dip once.

👏 Huge thanks to Midwich and the Harman Professional Solutions team for sponsoring this one and supporting us every step of the way.

But what really blew us away was the crowd. A brilliant mix of suppliers, clients, consultants, friends and all the conversations that only happen when the music’s great and everyone’s relaxed. Exactly what Lateside is meant to be. 🧡

If you want to relive the night, check out the mixes!

🌎 While the UK was freezing, our “holiday snaps” from APAC tell a very different story… up to 36°C, installing MANY Cisco Webex devices for one of our global managed services clients.

Sure, we may look like tourists… but between long days of work, we did manage to tick off a few sights:

✅ Sydney Opera House
✅ Bondi Beach
✅ Hawker Market, Singapore
✅ Marina Bay Sands SkyPark
✅ 20+ Cisco meeting rooms

Meanwhile, another part of the team was getting frostbite in Canada… but still found time to visit:

✅ Niagara Falls

Not bad for a small local team, personal service at its best, delivering big global projects, eh?

📸 Apparently, we can do all of the above… and take a “holiday pic or two” while we’re at it.

Fed up of seeing glossy installs all over your feed and never the dark, dirty underbelly of AV? We get it. 🙄

Sometimes it’s messy, gritty, and technical, and that’s exactly what our new behind-the-scenes series How AV You Done It? is all about.

📽️ First up: Episode 1: Bass Booster. Ever notice how a tiny Bluetooth speaker can feel like it’s delivering more bass than a full professional system at low volumes? Turns out there’s a science behind it!

🔉 The human ear is less sensitive to low frequencies at lower volumes, so bass often feels weak unless you crank it up. We didn’t want to settle for that.

💡 Enter Dynamic Bass EQ, Sean’s clever little addition that we’re now integrating into our installed audio systems. It keeps the low end warm and full at quiet levels, without ever overwhelming your ears when the volume goes up.

A small tweak. A huge everyday improvement. 🙌

📌🇬🇧 We’ve just wrapped up a seriously luxe project at Lilibet’s in Mayfair, the new restaurant built on the very birthplace of Queen Elizabeth II.

No big deal… just crafting an audio system fit for actual royalty. 👑

We chose K-array’s Vyper loudspeakers, the perfect blend of performance and insane form factor. Each one was custom-finished to blend into the vibrant interiors, making them pretty much invisible. 👻

Along the walls, you’ll find the Vypers; tucked under banquettes and hidden in joinery are the K-array's Rumble subs doing the heavy lifting.

All tied together with QSC Q-SYS control, delivering smooth, rich audio across the entire space.

Now the real challenge...
📸 Check out the photos… can you spot the Vypers?

🔉 Shout out to 2B Heard - always a pleasure working with you!
