💜This week, Chair of the Trust, Jane Bailey chaired a meeting of our Trust’s Board.

The Trust Board includes discussions on key issues and reflections based on the progress we’re making to improve mental health care for all our patients.

"One of the most powerful moments came when we heard directly from a service user... These stories are a powerful reminder of the importance of care that is person-centred, compassionate and effective, particularly across our community and step-down services." - Jane Bailey.

💜For World Patient Safety Day, we asked members of staff to share what patient safety means to them in their roles.

As a Trust, we believe that patient safety is everybody’s business and weaves through everything we do in clinical and non-clinical roles.

💜Hoarding isn’t just about clutter. What looks like clutter is often a person’s way of coping with trauma and distress.

Too often, the “solution” is a house clearance — but this doesn't address the root of the trauma, distress and shame.

At SLaM, in partnership with the Recovery College, we’re piloting Buried in Treasures — a CBT-based group in Brixton that’s already helping people find relief and community: https://ow.ly/6yKG50WWGOf

The impact has been so powerful that local authorities and housing providers are exploring ways to expand it. We’re proud to be leading change and hope to run another cohort soon. One participant told us:

"Many of my severe symptoms seem to have abated. I'm feeling more at ease, less ashamed and more compassionate for myself"

With compassion and community, recovery is possible ❤️

💜 Chair of the Trust Jane Bailey visited the OPTIMA team to celebrate their 10 year anniversary.

The OPTIMA service was established in 2015 to support people who have experienced frequent hospital admissions as a result of bipolar disorder.

🗣️"OPTIMA 's 10th Anniversary is a time to celebrate the work of all our team members, past and present, in providing much-needed bipolar-specific treatments to frequently admitted South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust service users." - Dr Karine Macritchie, Consultant Psychiatrist

💜Celebrating our volunteers- Kate Milligan's story

Today we are highlighting the incredible work of Kate Milligan, a volunteer who has been supporting the Occupational Therapy team for over a decade.

🖼️"My time in the textile department has focused on providing both technical and emotional support to facilitators and clients. By sharing lived experiences, listening without judgment, and relating to everyday challenges, we aim to create a safe space where people can express themselves creatively."
