What impact can recovery and positive psychology play on your physiology? 🧠

Athletes who take recovery seriously are more likely to be able to bounce back from hard sessions without compromising their performance.

Activating the parasympathetic nervous system enhances recovery from sports by lowering heart rate, promoting muscle repair, improving digestion and nutrient absorption, and restoring overall physiological balance.

Positive Psychology also supports recovery by enhancing mood, reducing stress hormones, improving motivation and resilience - it’s just as important to relax your mind as it is your body.

You could be eating enough calories for your activity level and body, but if your aren’t getting enough micronutrients in your diet, your body can’t convert food into energy has to use its existing energy stores.

This could be a reason why you experience low energy, brain fog, and fatigue, even if you think you’re eating enough.

Most people are wasting their money on supplements, and it’s not their fault. Clever marketing encourages us to buy into the ‘next big supplement’ and we hope it’ll fix everything. BUT…

What we should be doing first, is fixing our foundations:

🔋Your energy balance.

🍠 Your macros and eating to fuel your training and lifestyle.

🧠 Sleep and stress.

Once you’ve taken the time to assess your foundations and taken action to solidify them - perhaps with the help of a coach and a personalised nutrition plan - then supplements will really start to be effective.
