New Gentle Chair Yoga Class

Last week I started this class locally to help bring yoga to anyone who has either wanted to try yoga or has been suggested to try it, but has either felt they can’t do it, they are not very mobile or they have health issues that might hinder them. I wanted to make it accessible and affordable.

I was so pleased to see some of my local community come along and feel like they got something good from it.

Yoga is helpful for physical health and mental health. Practicing in a gentle way helps to slowly bring mobility, strength and flexibility, and a calmness of mind. Whatever your health and mobility needs, the practice is simple and adapted to suit needs. Age is no barrier either. Some of my most regular students in other classes are in their 80’s!

So, come along and try it. No yoga experience needed and all equipment provided.

NEW CHAIR YOGA CLASS - Starts Friday 4 November 11.45am - 12.30pm.

This weekly 45 minute class is suitable for all abilities. The class will be a gentle practice with the use of the chair. Mostly seated with some standing options for those able to. Alternative options will be available to support physical and health needs. Full information in photo.
Come along, move, improve your physical and mental well-being and meet others.
The community hall is a beautiful sports hall to the side of the Church, with the entrance on Martin Way, Raynes Park. All equipment provided.

One on one yoga - two new slots available!

I have a couple of new slots (one evening and one day time) now available for private yoga classes with me at my purpose built, fully equipped, home studio in Morden.

These are bespoke classes, created with you and your needs in mind. These classes fill up fast and due to the time and individualisation of each class, are very limited and spots come up infrequently.

I absolutely love teaching these classes as the transformations are so evident - whether physical, mental, spiritual, or finding tools and techniques to navigate life.

Tehira completely personalised my yoga experience. I was looking for some sessions where I could improve my form as I was already attending group classes. She did this but also personalised the way she communicated with me (my processing and coordination isn’t amazing) and also built in a lot of well-being /calming techniques. She was very aware of how my body was responding during every pose and changed her planning each week accordingly. I felt rested but also awake after the sessions. Tehira is highly skilled and also very nice!

Tehira and I worked together for about three months following my surgery for an invasive abdominal procedure. We had one-to-one private sessions in my home alternating, as my strength built, with visits to her purpose-built home yoga studio in south London. My principal aim was to strengthen my pelvic floor and associated back and leg muscles. Tehira approached all of the sessions with care and dedication, regularly checking my strength and comfort thresholds while we practised as well as asking for updates in between scheduled sessions. It was striking and sometimes emotional to notice my stamina build over the weeks.

As the world remembers the qualities and values that Queen Elizabeth II embodied and expressed, I ponder where in ourselves we can find, hone and embody those same beautiful qualities and values as humans. At a time when the world is going through great turbulence, if there’s one thing she taught that I take away, is that it starts with oneself.

Courage, determination, commitment, service, humility, compassion, love.

As a human, she was a great example of all those qualities and values.

As my own yoga teacher said just before his death from this world of form, and applies ever more today:

‘May my ending be your beginning’ - BKS Iyengar.

I wanted to share some good news. Going forward, the Monday evening class (6.15pm) will be recorded and sent to everyone booking the class.

Whether or not you are able to make the live class, if you book the class, you will be sent the recording within 24 hours. It will then be available for use for 7 days.

In-Person Gentle Yoga at the Wimbledon Guild. I teach a weekly gentle yoga class at the Guild on Fridays at 10-11am. Whether you have limited mobility, health issues, or want to get active, the class is suitable for all. Props are available for support, poses are adapted to meet any health or physical needs. All students go at their own pace. Yoga is such a great practice for both physical and mental well-being and I am so passionate about helping and keeping our local, more ageing or less mobile neighbours and communities healthy and moving. Come along and try it, if it resonates with you.
