Magical thinking can occupy a minor or major part of the character of a person who has "omnipotent control".
What beliefs can magical thinking be based on?
A belief in universal connectedness and conditioning. The most prominent example of such a belief is karma. Why do some people zealously believe that something bad "flew to them" because of their actions? The whole point is that a person cannot accept the irrefutable fact that bad things can happen for nothing. That's why they necessarily try to find cause-and-effect relations, and if they can't see anything in the physical world, they involve something fictitious and invisible ("Because someone counted/calculated, these troubles "flew" to me! Nothing just happens like that! Besides, I must be in control of this world, otherwise I will not know how to behave to avoid such situations. How much I wish not to face such problems!"). A person is haunted by a total attempt to control everything, and also superpowers constantly "interfere" in his life, which he does not see, and it is not known whether they exist....
