3. To encourage professional and social interaction among Muslim health care professionals and with wider medical community in the UK

4. To promote research and education in the field of medicine, Islamic medical history and Islamic medical ethics.

5. To engage our professional skills in charitable activities locally and globally to help the needy irrespective of colour, creed or faith.

6. To advise & support Muslim health care professionals and students in career development, orientation and other work related issues.

Led by Dr Bushra Khawaja (GP & Cancer Lead) and Dr Farah Ahmed (Women’s Health & Menopause GP), this event aims to raise awareness, break taboos, and share practical information to help women and families better understand these important health topics.

BIMA stands with 31 other leading health organisations in calling the Health Minister to retain the medical regulator's ability to investigate fitness to practice arising from existing health concerns under a compassionate route.

In such cases, health concerns can be acknowledged without pejorative terminology and hearings held in private, focusing on both recovery and patient safety. The new rules would only allow for performance or misconduct concerns to take place, risking significant harm to highly vulnerable doctors facing difficult investigations.

Sunday 7th September marked the first World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD), a moment to stand together and spotlight the tremendous impact of radiotherapy in cancer care and the role of Therapeutic Radiographers.

At the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA), we proudly join the global campaign united under the theme “One Voice for Radiotherapy.” Together, we recognise the life-saving skills and compassion of professionals delivering radiotherapy and reaffirm our commitment to equitable access for all.

Yesterday BIMA’s advocacy team had an extended meeting with the Rt Hon Wes Streeting at the Department of Health and Social Care - DHSC to raise urgent concerns shared by our members and wider community.

Our discussion centred on:
- Islamophobia in the NHS
- Assisted dying
- Silencing of healthcare workers speaking out against the genocide in Gaza
- Vexatious complaints against colleagues who exercise a moral duty to protest against genocide
- Deliberate attacks on healthcare colleagues and infrastructure in Palestine
- Dress codes affecting career choices Muslim women and inconsistent uniform policies on expressing solidarity
