Where do you put yourself on the list of priorities at home, your classrooms or school?
If we examine that answer personally the answer to that can be quite shocking from week-to-week.

I'm NO SAINT or guru! But I have learnt the importance of caring enough about how you feel, mentally & physically to be able to show up as your best self.

Thats why I'm super excited to be having an open discussion (and holding you accountable) about Wellbeing for all educators at Black Men Teach Wellness RetreatπŸ₯³.

THE POWER OF SMELL

Smell can have a positive impact on your mental state of mind.

The aroma of certain things such as food or flowers can help to strengthen a positive mindset.

The actual science to this is to reprogram your mind and anchor a positive thought or feeling when you smell something pleasant.

This can be done with any smell but science also shows an increase in brain chemistry and mood after smelling citrus essential oils.

On my rough days I enjoy smelling bergamot and soothing my mind with comforting words such as 'all is well'

Now this is NOT a quick fix for abolishing poor mental health but it is definitely a tool used to help strengthen your mental health for ALL ages.

Can't say its been any fun...

Working on your own mindset/mental/emotional health first is imperative when also wanting to help others.

Focusing on where you'd rather be and your desired outcome has more benefits to your mental health than what's already happened.

Work on shifting your mindsetπŸ‘ŒπŸΎ
