Last weekend, I had the privilege of teaching a First Aid session on behalf of the incredible Freddie’s Wish Charity 🩵🧡 for the parents of The Playroom London Nursery.

We covered essential emergency first aid skills and had important conversations around how quickly accidents can happen with little ones, often in the blink of an eye.

It was a powerful and rewarding morning, helping parents feel more confident and prepared. We also heard a moving message from the founder, Charlotte Freddie's Wish - Warwickshire, which truly hit home the importance of why everyone should know first aid. ⛑️💚

A huge thank you to for making this happen.

⚠️ Save this post as a reminder that the main sign that your baby or child is choking rather than gagging is SILENCE.

If your child is gagging, you will usually hear them trying to clear their throat or the back of their mouth.

If your child is choking, there is a blockage in their airway, and they cannot make any noise.

When the British weather finally begins to turn a little more spring-like, that's when families like to start getting outdoors with little ones, visiting parks and going for country walks and it's the time of year when tick bites become more common.

Ticks are mostly found in woods, fields and moorland, the cannot jump or fly, instead they climb a piece of grass or vegatation and wait for a passing human or animal to catch hold of.
While most tick bites are harmless, some ticks can carry diseases like Lyme disease so it's a good idea to know what Lyme Disease is and how to spot the signs.

Teeth start forming in babies' gums from 2 months of pregnancy 😮 At birth, all of the milk teeth are therefore already formed and sometimes a baby can be born with a tooth!

It can feel like teething hits at just the time you are finding your feet with your new baby. It can be a tough time for little ones but there are things you can do to help them through baby teething and encourage great oral hygiene to set them up with healthy teeth for life.

What an incredible whirlwind since the Mini First Aid Conference and Annual Awards on Saturday night! I’m truly honoured to have been recognised as People’s Choice Trainer and Franchisee of the Year.

Being nominated felt like an achievement in itself, but winning has far exceeded my expectations. 2024 was a year of remarkable growth for my business, and 2025 is already off to an amazing start. I’m incredibly grateful for the unwavering support from my team, loved ones, and everyone who made this possible.

Nearly 6 years ago, I started this journey with a passion for first aid, and it’s been amazing to grow from trainer to manager to franchisee. Attending a conference is still “pinch-me” moment, let alone winning awards!

We are truly passionate when delivering our classes from workplace, to schools and youth clubs, to baby and child awareness. We bring energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge to every class so everyone leaves confident and prepared should an emergency arise.

It’s a privilege to do what we love every day. Huge thanks to Kate and Matt for bringing us along on this journey with Mini First Aid.

Our tonsils play a key role in our immune system. They help filter out germs that enter through your nose or mouth to protect the rest of your body from infection.

Tonsillitis can be brought on by bacteria or viruses. When a virus affects the tonsils and causes inflammation, it can make your child feel pretty grotty.

It's important to know whether your child's sore throat is caused by a virus or bacteria as this can determine the treatment path, so please see your GP if you are worried.

You can read our blog on Tonsillitis now at the link in the comments

This week's blog tells the story of Raffi who fell and bumped his head at the park while playing with a friend. Although he seemed fine at the time, the full extent of his concussion injury didn't become apparent until the following day.

Swipe through the slides here for more info on head bumps and concussion and head to the link in the comments to read Raffi's story so that you know what signs to look for and when to worry and get medical help 💚

It’s that time of year again… Norovirus is often called the 'winter vomiting bug' so you might find cases of this in your child's school over the coming months, it's hard to avoid! 🤢

Norovirus symptoms normally appear a day or two after infection, and thankfully usually only last a few (very unpleasant!) days. The best thing you can do for your child is to let them rest and make sure they drink lots of clear fluids to replace what they are losing through vomiting and diarrhoea.

We had a great chat about winter viruses with paediatrician Dr Lillie Parker for the upcoming series of The Family Health Podcast - be sure to subscribe now so that you don't miss this episode which is out in a few weeks. Everything you ever wanted to know about viruses particularly RSV and bronchiolitis is answered in this episode!

Head to Spotify, Apple or wherever you like to listen to podcasts and search for Family Health by Mini First Aid.

Have you ever had a bad experience with norovirus in your household?
