A dedicated team, led by Prof. Mike Hanna are donning their trainers for the upcoming BUPA 10k run on May 30th in London. All donations go towards tackling neuromuscular diseases.

Prof. Hanna said: "It's no exaggeration to say, we really couldn't have done this without the help of patients, their families and friends.

This year, we hope to raise funds to continue these training programmes as well as support the re-development of the operating theatres at the National where many of our patients have procedures, including nerve and muscle biopsies."

A huge congratulations to Dr Pedro Machado and Dr Emma Matthews who recently received awards at the Rare Diseases Translational Research Collaboration Research Symposium. Dr Machado's award was for his poster on the natural history of sporadic inclusion body myositis – an observational longitudinal study, and Dr Matthews' prize was for her poster on genetic dysfunction of the skeletal muscle voltage gated sodium channel linked to sudden infant death syndrome http://bit.ly/1hDY4cZ

There can only be one winner – and given the quality of the 21 posters on display during our Research Symposium earlier in September, that didn’t make the task any easier for our judging panel of theme leads and our directors Dr John Bradley and Professor Patrick Chinnery.
