Energy is the currency of life, fueling every cell in our body. When we prioritise metabolic health, we ensure this currency flows smoothly, empowering our cells to thrive and our bodies to flourish.

Let’s unravel the mystery of metabolic health – it’s more than just metabolism or metabolic rate!

Metabolic health is about the production, storage, and utilisation of energy. It involves the journey of digesting food, absorbing and delivering nutrients to our cells, producing and storing energy and its utilisation.

But when things go awry – and there are lots of opportunities for this - whether it’s issues involving digestion, the gut microbiome, nutrient absorption and transportation, or producing ATP (energy)– our metabolic health suffers. That’s when conditions including diabetes, weight gain, obesity, fatty liver, cardiovascular disease and thyroid issues can emerge.

But fear not! Achieving optimal metabolic health is within reach. It’s about nourishing our bodies with nutritious foods and adopting lifestyle habits that support our well-being. It’s finding the right balance of foods we eat as well as how we live our lives.

Don’t Let Your Blood Glucose Levels Fall!

We’ve been diving deep into blood glucose and stress management lately, but here’s a fascinating nugget you might not know: when your blood glucose levels drop below the optimal level, it triggers a stress response in your body.

Why? Because maintaining blood glucose homeostasis is crucial for survival. Your body kicks into high gear to ensure your blood sugar stays within the optimal range
So, what happens when your blood glucose levels dip? Your body releases stress hormones to the rescue! These hormones spring into action, mobilising glucose from glycogen stores and even crafting glucose from amino acids through gluconeogenesis.

The bottom line? Don’t let your blood glucose levels plummet, whether it’s due to food choices causing peaks and crashes or simply not eating enough or frequently enough.

After spending countless hours with clients striving to enhance their well-being, I’ve noticed a common theme; the constant search for someone else to provide the answers.

We seek guidance on what to eat, how to exercise, and which supplements to take – all in the hopes of finding the magic formula for health. We rely on experts, doctors, or influencers to map out our health journey, believing they hold the key to our well-being.

But outsourcing our health doesn’t lead to lasting change. We find ourselves trapped in a cycle of diets, gurus, supplements and medications, endlessly searching for the next quick fix.

We hop from one source to another, hoping for better answers, instead of empowering ourselves with knowledge.

This approach leaves us powerless and dependent on others for our health decisions, especially when conflicting information abounds in the health industry.

But what if we took a different path? What if we invested time in understanding our bodies and how they function? What if we became active participants in our health journey?
