New guidance has been published on the use of restrictive interventions (including reasonable force) in schools, coming into effect from April 2026.

The guidance explains how schools should keep children and others safe, and why restrictive practices should only ever be used when absolutely necessary.

Page 11 includes specific information about SEND, so it may be particularly relevant for families of disabled and neurodivergent children.

Supporting families facing housing and financial insecurity through early intervention
As we start the year, many families are facing housing insecurity, rising living costs, and reduced access to support. Increasingly, families are living in temporary or emergency accommodation, creating instability for children and immense pressure for parents.
At Educare Family Support Service, this is the reality we see every day.

This year, we are focusing our fundraising on the Start Strong Families Fund - a targeted project providing direct advice, early intervention, and practical family support for families experiencing instability.

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is extra money to help you with everyday life if you have an illness, disability, or mental health condition.

We now offer specialist support to help you check if you’re eligible for PIP and guide you through the application process - step by step.

With years of experience supporting families and individuals, we provide:

✅ Support completing the application
✅ Help gathering evidence
✅ Advice on what to expect next

We’ve grown - and the need continues to rise.

Our last GoFundMe post was in November 2022, and since then, Educare Family Support Service CIC has been busier than ever. We’ve expanded both our services and our geographical reach, and we’re now working to meet increasing demand in both London and Reading, Berkshire.

Here’s what we’ve been doing since our last update:

Expanded one-to-one support and information, advice & guidance - especially around housing and welfare benefits, which remains a growing area of need

School-based family outreach and early intervention work with children and parents

School uniform assistance, providing help with school clothing and essentials

Emergency food provision and signposting

Continued advocacy and support for individuals and families in crisis

And now, we're preparing to launch a new project we're incredibly proud of:
Educare Private Day Nursery, opening in September 2025 in Reading - a warm, inclusive early years setting rooted in the same values of care and community that have shaped all our work.
