I’m looking forward to sharing new techniques and strategies for full body movement with soft tissue work.

Come and join us on 1 & 2 February in Exeter.

Our understanding of the human body, anatomy, and movement has developed in such a way as to strongly emphasise the separation into parts. This reductionist approach has given us a huge amount.

However, as physicist David Bohm realised, the notion of a separate parts to an organism is an abstraction. Separation is an idea, a concept, and that underlying all our division/anatomising is an unbroken wholeness.

We realise then that living systems cannot be understood by analysis, that the properties of the parts are not intrinsic properties, but can be understood only within the context of the larger whole. Improving a lunge may improve gait but is unlikely to improve your deadlift.

Systems thinking is contextual.

Movement is contextual.

Our context is movement.

I’ve been doing a few Born to Walk workshops recently- the focus of this workshop is to understand, really understand movement.
It’s not about learning new exercises, assessments, and techniques, there are other workshops for that.
This one goes deeper - hope you can join us!

Born To Walk
In this workshop we analyse the mechanics of efficient gait, looking at the chain of movement events from the feet to the spine and into the shoulders.
We explore how gravity and momentum work in concert with joints and the fascial and myofascial tissue to improve proprioceptive communication, muscle firing, and collagenous tissue recoil.
You will come away with the tools to investigate, analyse and intervene in non-pathological walking. We will explore the many ways in which collagenous tissues assist movement efficiency and then learn how to build a personalised movement program to improve your clients’ gait.
His subject is applicable for a wide-ranging audience that includes osteopaths, physiotherapists, massage therapists and movement therapists.

It’s the weekend!!!

When in Rome do as the Romans do.

I’ve just finished the first day of a workshop here in beautiful Frankfurt. One cannot ignore the wonderful, fresh, tasty beers on offer in Germany 🇩🇪 .

Just the one for me tonight - teaching again tomorrow - hope you all have a wonderful evening and a great weekend.

Yes, it’s the weekend!!!

This week has been a special one - the end of not one but two eras.

Announcements will follow. They are not to be mourned but instead they are to be celebrated. Both projects were successes, they opened doors, provided satisfaction and brought people together.

To mark and acknowledge them, I thought it appropriate to reinstate ‘cocktail of the week’ (and by popular demand!!) with a familiar regular - a negroni.

An Italian cocktail with Italian bitter, vermouth, and gin to set me up for an Italian dinner.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Born to walk, run, and jump.
Made to measure, and designed to be re-made!

Welcome to a new era of footwear.

No, they don’t have to be that colour. These are the prototypes ready to be road tested, and put through their paces on beaches, fields, mountains, and forests.

is a visionary project that 3D prints shoes from scans of your feet. These shoes are made-to-measure, bespoke, and ‘fit like a glove’ to give all the benefits minimalist shoes can offer - PLUS - they can be sent back to be re-made into another pair when you are finished with them.

’s new system will not just reduce waste through their scan to print circular system but the production is also done locally to cut down on emissions.

This is a project we should all get behind.
