Nirvana Shatakam by Adi Shankaracharya. Sung by Vaneeta Mahtani. This eternal poem / chant of self realisation was sung by Sri Adi Shankaracharya for his teacher on being asked "who he was". This is also known as Atma Shatakam or the song of self realisation. It is in 6 verses therefore it is called shatakam. Sharing with you our first offering of Kailasa Beats on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivaratri, March 8, 2024. May the holy night of Shivaratri help us all to realise the truth of the Self and helps us to break the bo***ge of the body and its limited existence. Love, Light and Liberation. 🔱✨🕉️

A big shout to my Surya Kriya participants from yesterday, what a blissed out programme it was!

Also, it’s nice to see men dominating the yoga space for once. This time I had 5 men and 1 woman, something you rarely get to see.

I have always been very interested in men’s health, having three brothers of my own. I think this group are very under represented in the wellness field and that we need to make it ok for men to be health conscious too.

I’ve heard men say there’s a lot of stigma attached to attending a yoga class, for various reasons it can make them feel uncomfortable. I’m pleased that the way we practice and teach helps men to feel comfortable enough to be able to explore their yoga and health journeys as well. 💙

Looking forward to my ‘clean’ lunch to clean those at Field in Fortnums

Dirty Genes is a fantastic book that shows us how to improve our health today and for the future, just by changing a few components of our diet and lifestyle. It shows us which of our genes are ‘dirty’, and how to clean them. When our genes are clean, there’s harmony in the body and mind.

A dirty gene means one that we are either born with slightly out, or one that has become ‘dirty’ over time due to our lifestyle choices. Both can be reversed or greatly supported to help us achieve great health outcomes.

We are talking about things like diabetes, propensity to develop cancer, PMS, migraines anxiety, mood swings, irritability, heart disease, blood pressure, focus, attention, memory, inability to switch off etc etc…

**Reflections**
Watch the narrative in your mind. Those slippery thoughts, which could go unnoticed and which shape your feelings everyday.

What are they saying to you? Look closely. Are they joyful and liberating keeping you in a healthy mental state of mind? Or are they your bo***ge, keeping you confined in an unproductive, negative stream of (un)consciousness?

They can be very difficult to spot as they have been fine tuned over the course of our lives and have become interwoven in to our very fabric…the separation between ‘me’ and ‘my thoughts’ can be hazy at best.

Look closely at how you feel when you wake up in the morning, is it how you want to feel? If not, then change the narrative. It’s really that simple. But first, you must be aware of what’s already there.

Become the witness to your body and mind, create some space so that you are able to SEE the compulsive patterns and CHOOSE to be FREE of them. ❤️❤️❤️

The whole point of Yoga, or the Hindu philosophies, is to move us away from the external world - which is ever changing, full of sorrow, likes and dislikes - to our internal world, a world which is changeless and constant… we call this Brahman or Consciousness. We are thus brought to a state of equanimity and liberation….liberation from the fluctuations of the mind.

We don’t mind how you get there, which path you choose, the important thing is to live a blissful and soulful life along the way. 🕉🥰😎

*Practice Reflections *
Why was I feeling so much resistance to getting on the mat, I wondered? All I wanted to do this morning was to get busy with the chores, perhaps have an early lunch, or relax with a book. But why was I so keen not to do my practice? What drives that feeling of resistance on some days and not others? What is the nature of that feeling, what does it mean?

I decided to dig a little deeper today. Instead of taking the easy route and quitting, or just ignoring the feeling altogether and pushing through, I made my practice about ‘the feeling’.

I realised that when I feel this way it’s because I want to do something other than my yoga practice, so that I can escape ‘the feeling’. What a truly simple realisation to make! No rocket science there, it’s just that I have never really analysed it before.

Whilst doing something else helps me to escape from the feeling, keep myself busy and pretend it’s not there, practicing means there are no other distractions and all that’s left is me and the feeling. And that is just too unbearably uncomfortable. And what was the feeling about? I can’t remember, if I even knew at all!

So next time you don’t want to get on or you keep trying to think up really good reasons why you shouldn’t, ask yourself…’what am I trying to run away from?’

As you start to get closer to your feelings and name them and give them some breathing space, watch them slowly dissolve away…

Our Story

Providing health and wellbeing coaching to the people of Toronto, Canada through nutritional therapy, hatha yoga instruction and wellness coaching.

I trained as a Nutritional Therapist in London in 2006. In 2014 I completed a 6 month Hatha yoga Teacher Training programme in India, and spent 3 years going back and forth on a quest to deepen my spiritual life. Since, then my life has been all about helping my self and others to do the work that’s needed to live the best life possible. That includes, trauma and injury healing, nutritional therapy to heal disease or unease in the physical or mental bodies, yoga for the energy body and wellness coaching to get you on track for a healthier lifestyle and a more positive outlook on life.

In 2016 I published my first book, Bliss Ju**ie, available on amazon. This is an autobiographical story woven in to the lessons I have learnt on my journey along with some practical tips on how to find your bliss state.
