Wednesday was a humbling day.
For the first time in a long while, I joined our Walk & Talk group, something we started three years ago. I honestly can’t believe how quickly that time has gone.
As we walked, it really hit me: the only person who’s missed out by not attending regularly is me. The friendships, the support, the camaraderie that’s grown within the group is something truly special.
Sarah and I were both blown away by the feedback especially from those who’ve joined us more recently. Many shared how the walk has helped them through incredibly difficult times after losing someone they love. There was also laughter, especially when we joked about how an outsider might perceive a bereavement walk. But the truth is, until you’ve attended, you can’t fully understand the emotional and physical benefits.
It’s a simple concept, but the power of walking and talking is real. I’m genuinely so proud of what this group has become.
A massive thank you to Kev for stepping up and leading with such heart, and to every single person who shows up. You’re what makes it so special.
If you’ve ever thought about coming along, please do.
We walk every Wednesday at 10am from Eltham Palace, rain or shine.
