Didi Ananda Nanda is a nun of the Ananda Marga Meditation Charity. She lived in Southeast Asia and East Asia for many years, where she founded, and participated in, education and service projects run by the charity.
Didi studied textile design and fine art in the past, and recently completed a foundation course in Arts Therapies and Wellbeing at the University of Hertfordshire.
During the course, environmental art therapy, in which the natural world is the healer, was introduced. An arts therapy pilot group called ‘Bringing the Outside In’ has provided a model for Didi’s environmental art making workshops.
Didi is facilitating free-flowing watercolour painting workshops too, with colours that can calm and colours that can lift and energise. The activities in the workshops are inspired by the artwork and creativity of Jean Haines, a master watercolour artist.
The calming influence of making art, together with the mental rest and stillness that meditation brings, has motivated Didi to facilitate workshops which combine art making and its wellbeing qualities with meditative ideation and its benefits.
