Join us for an introduction to Auditory Verbal (AV) therapy. AV therapy brings together the
core principles of optimal auditory access, child development and parent coaching to
develop listening and spoken language in deaf babies and preschool children.
This session will explore how AV techniques support parents and caregivers to become
confident primary facilitators of their child's listening and language development. We’ll
unpack key principles of AV therapy, share practical strategies you can embed in your
clinical work, and conclude with a Q&A for discussion and reflection.

There will also be an opportunity to learn more information about our 6-month Foundation
course “Working through Audition” which is delivered online and provides delegates an in-
depth understanding of the strategies needed to support the development of listening and
understanding of spoken language in deaf children.

Can't make it but wish to find out more about the Foundation Course “Working through
Audition”? Drop us an email and let us know at courses@avuk.org.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
 Learn about the core elements of Auditory Verbal practice
 Learn to identify some AV strategies to use with preschool deaf children

ASLTIP is proud to have co-signed a letter to Parliament calling for increased investment in speech and language therapy, and we wanted to share why this matters so much to us.

Alongside the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, Mikey's Wish Foundation and other partners, we are standing behind a simple but important message: speech and language therapy is essential, and too many people aren't getting the support they need.

As independent SLT's, we see this everyday. We see the impact of unmet need and the life-changing difference it makes when support comes at the right time.

This is about more than funding. It is about children finding their voice. Adults rebuilding their confidence. Families being heard.
Independent Speech and Language Therapists are part of that wider system.

We're proud to be part of a professional that fights for that, and proud to stand alongside our colleagues in calling for investment that truly reflects the value of communication support across health, education and social care.

Amazing talk from Sarah Stones to kick off Therapy Talks 2026

Being able to identify the warning signs and early indicators of a wavering drive before it impacts caseload management is key. Combined with the right tools, and framework, this talk really gave a great insight into how to maintain motivation.

With the Keynote coming to an end, keep an eye on our socials for highlights from the rest of the day.
