👶 Thinking about starting a family while managing adenomyosis or endometriosis?
You’re not alone — and yes, pregnancy is possible. In fact, many women with adenomyosis go on to have healthy, uncomplicated pregnancies.

What’s more, pregnancy itself can offer a break from the monthly inflammation and pain — with no periods for 9 months, it often helps ease symptoms temporarily.

If you’re planning to conceive and wondering about the right time to begin treatment, let’s talk. The right support makes all the difference.

🌸 “My discharge has changed and smells strange… should I be worried?”

Normal vaginal discharge is a healthy part of your body’s natural balance—it helps keep things clean and protects against infection. But when discharge changes colour, smell, or texture, it can signal something more serious such as an infection, hormonal imbalance, or another underlying condition.

💡 Don’t ignore these signs—your body is telling you something. A quick check with a gynaecologist can give you peace of mind and the right treatment if needed.

📅 Concerned about unusual discharge? Book an appointment today: http://yglondongynaecology.co.uk/contact?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign&utm_content=ap_8bbolmklwv

💧 Why Hydration Matters in Menopause

Many women are surprised to learn just how much hydration can affect menopausal symptoms. During this stage of life, falling oestrogen levels can change how the body regulates temperature, processes fluids, and maintains healthy skin and tissues.

Here’s how keeping up your fluids can help:
✔️ Hot flushes & night sweats – water helps regulate body temperature
✔️ Bloating – staying hydrated reduces water retention
✔️ Skin health – hydration supports elasticity and glow
✔️ Digestion – prevents constipation, which can worsen bloating
✔️ Energy & focus – dehydration can increase fatigue and brain fog

Aim for 6–8 glasses of water a day. Herbal teas and water-rich foods (like cucumber, oranges, and melon) also count.

📅 If menopause symptoms are affecting your quality of life, don’t ignore them. I offer personalised support and treatment options to help you feel yourself again.

UTIs and Menopause – Is There a Link? Absolutely.
If you’ve noticed more frequent urinary tract infections since entering menopause, you’re not alone. Declining oestrogen levels can cause changes in your urinary tract and vaginal tissues that make UTIs more likely.

💡 Common symptoms to watch for:
✔️ Burning or pain when urinating
✔️ Urgency or increased frequency
✔️ Cloudy, smelly urine
✔️ Lower abdominal discomfort

There are effective treatments and preventive strategies available — you don’t have to suffer in silence.

🌸 Is Your Discharge Normal? 🌸

Noticing changes in your vaginal discharge—like a new smell, colour, or texture—can feel worrying. The truth is, some variation is normal throughout your cycle, but persistent changes can signal something that needs checking.

🔎 Possible causes include:
✔️ Infections such as thrush or bacterial vaginosis
✔️ Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
✔️ Hormonal changes (e.g. perimenopause or menopause)
✔️ Less commonly, pre-cancerous or cancerous changes

If your discharge has become green, yellow, unusually thick, blood-stained, or foul-smelling, it’s important not to ignore it. Getting a proper diagnosis means you’ll get the right treatment quickly-whether that’s antibiotics, antifungals, or another tailored approach.

👩‍⚕️ You don’t have to feel embarrassed-changes in discharge are one of the most common reasons women see a gynaecologist.

My discharge has changed and smells strange. Should I be worried?
👉 Any new, persistent, or unusual discharge—especially if it’s green, yellow, or has a strong odour—should be checked by a gynaecologist.

Changes like this can sometimes be caused by infections, such as thrush, bacterial vaginosis, or sexually transmitted infections. Less commonly, they may point to hormonal changes or other underlying conditions.

💡 The good news is that most causes are treatable once identified. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it—book an appointment and get checked.

✨ Could it be PCOS? ✨
Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) affects around 1 in 10 women, yet many go undiagnosed for years.

Common symptoms to look out for include:

🔹 Irregular or missed periods – cycles may be fewer than 8 per year.

🔹 Excess hair growth (hirsutism) – on the face, chest, or back due to higher androgen levels.

🔹 Acne and oily skin – often persistent and resistant to typical treatments.

🔹 Weight gain or difficulty losing weight – linked to insulin resistance.

🔹 Thinning hair or hair loss – especially around the scalp (androgenic alopecia).

🔹 Difficulty conceiving – due to irregular ovulation or lack of ovulation.

🔹 Darkened patches of skin – commonly around the neck, armpits, or under the breasts (acanthosis nigricans).

💡 Not every woman with PCOS has all these symptoms—but if you notice some of them, it’s worth booking a check-up with your gynaecologist.

👉 Early diagnosis means better management and peace of mind.

Yes. Many women’s health conditions can develop without any warning signs. Regular check-ups mean early detection, better treatment options, and peace of mind.

From cervical screening to ultrasound scans, these visits protect your reproductive health and ensure you’re not ignoring something important.

📅 If it’s been more than a year since your last check-up, now’s the time to book. Your future self will thank you.
