Tandartsen en mondhygiënisten kunnen een belangrijke signalerende rol spelen bij coeliakie.

Coeliakie is de meest onontdekte ziekte van Nederland: onderdiagnose is een groot probleem. Naar schatting is slechts bij één op vier tot één op acht patiënten in Nederland de diagnose gesteld. Dat wil zeggen dat 75% tot 85% van de gevallen onontdekt en dus onbehandeld blijft.
