🍎Yesterday our lovely Helper Vanessa took one of her customers to PYO plums at Chegworth Valley Fruit Farm which is just outside Harrietsham here in Kent.

🌺They thoroughly enjoyed them selves; taste testing, picking plums, being outdoors and gentle exercise.

Our Companionship Service is just one of the valuable services we offer to older adults in the community.

🌅 Today I was up with the lark ready to attend a very interesting professionals networking breakfast at Invicta Court in Maidstone! Jaime, Customer Relations Manager and Joel, Training Manager, both from Care UK, warmly welcomed us.

☕️ The event began with a delicious buffet breakfast, where I had the opportunity to chat with other social prescribers over coffee and a bacon roll. It was wonderful to connect with like-minded individuals who are all dedicated to assisting our older generation with various aspects of care, counselling, and legal matters.

After breakfast, Joel from Care UK led an interactive "Insights Discovery" session. This session explored how our unique colour profiles influence our communication styles, leadership approaches, and decision-making tendencies, ultimately helping us lead with greater confidence.

🎨 Insights Discovery, a psychometric tool based on Carl Jung's psychology, aims to enhance self-understanding and interpersonal relationships in the workplace. It uses a simple four-colour model (Fiery Red, Sunshine Yellow, Earth Green, and Cool Blue energies) to reveal our unique blend of these energies, which dictates our behaviours.

🧐 It was fascinating to discover how our colours relate to our behaviour both at work and at home, revealing our adaptive work colours versus our natural home colours. This explained why my colour profile was equally balanced between two colours!

🌺Afterwards I enjoyed a walk around the beautifully well kept gardens to admire the flowers before heading home. It’s always a pleasure to visit Invicta Court & I shall look forward to returning again soon. 😊

Today I visited the monthly Carers Support Group at Greensand’s Surgery in Headcorn.

The group was well-attended, and it was a pleasure to connect with members of the Headcorn community.

Many attendees expressed interest in the services offered by Good Life Sorted, particularly those caring for loved ones at home. I highlighted how we support both clients with care needs and their families by providing crucial respite and time for themselves.

I also had the opportunity to meet Jane and her husband, who volunteer monthly at the carer support groups in Headcorn and Linton, offering invaluable support and advice.

Additionally, I met with Tracey, the new Social Prescriber for Greensand’s Headcorn, and we discussed the vital care needs and support within our community.

I shall look forward to attending again and raising awareness of the valuable support we offer to older adults in the community.

We're excited to share that one of our amazing Helpers, Kerrie, is training for the 2026 London Marathon and fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK!

Kerrie's inspiration for running the marathon comes from a deeply personal experience:

"I was my dad's full-time carer through his Alzheimer's/Vascular dementia journey, and it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with. Watching him go from the life and soul of a party to not knowing who we are, broke me.”

“Nearly a year on, I still can't believe it's real, that you are gone. But as you always said, 'get up and get on with it.' So here I am, getting up and running 26.4 miles to raise money and awareness for this charity.”

“I wanted to do more than just ask for donations, so I've decided to organise a charity football match at the Gallagher Stadium on October 10th. I'm hoping to raise as much awareness for this charity as possible and contribute towards my marathon target."

We will be following Kerrie's journey from her training to taking part in the London Marathon. We are all incredibly proud of you, Kerrie! 😊💪🏼
