⚖️ Who Is a Candidate for Bariatric Surgery?

The key criterion is body mass index.
📍 If BMI is 35 or higher, surgery is recommended as the primary weight-loss option.
📍 If BMI is between 30–35 and the patient has not succeeded with diet, exercise, gastric balloon or medication, surgery may be considered.
📍 If the patient also has diabetes or hypertension within this BMI range, surgery becomes a possible option after physician assessment.
