We know endometriosis isnāt rareāitās just rarely diagnosed. These are the signs I look for when you come to clinicāand the questions I ask to understand whatās really going on š
ā”ļø Iāll ask about your painā¦
Not just if you have it, but how it feels.
Does it stop you in your tracks?
Do you dread your period each month?
Does it start before your bleed even begins? Do you take pain killers and they donāt work? Does it make you feel sick itās so bad? Do you stop going about your daily life? Do you crave warmth or cold?
š„ Iāll ask about ovulationā¦
Do you feel it?
Is it sharp or lingering? Any spotting around that time? Bloating?
š© Iāll ask about your digestionā¦
Do you notice bloating, constipation, is it painful when you poo? Does it change with your cycle? Any blood in your stools? Do certain foods make you feel worse/better?
š§Iāll ask you about urinationā¦.
Do you have an urgency to urinate or increased frequency? Do you have a history of UTIās, lower back pain?
ā¤ļø Iāll ask about s*xā¦
Is there any pain? Any discomfort that might change depending if position or time of your cycle? Any history of vaginismus? Bleeding after s*x?
𩸠Iāll ask about your bleedingā¦
Is it heavy, clotty, or overwhelming to manage?
š„± Iāll ask about your energyā¦
Are you completely wiped out around your period?
ā¤ļø And of course your fertilityā¦.
Unexplained infertility, problems with egg quality, implantation, failed IVF, miscarriage?
Because these symptoms are so often treated as separate issues but as fertility acupuncturists we are interested in the whole and joining the dots.
This is how we begin to understand whether endometriosis could be part of your picture.
And from there, we can start supporting your body properlyā
looking at pain, inflammation, and fertility as a whole, not in isolation.
