Noticed a lump in your ge***al area?

It’s completely understandable to feel concerned, but in most cases these changes are not serious. Ge***al lumps are often caused by common, everyday issues such as ingrown hairs, spots, cysts, or varicose veins, and settle on their own with time. That said, if a lump is painful, looks unusual, or doesn’t improve after a couple of weeks, then it’s worth seeking medical advice. A gynaecologist can help identify the cause and provide quick, effective treatment.

"After being told by the NHS that I could be waiting up to 6 weeks for a procedure that I needed, I looked for a private centre/doctor that could help me sooner.

"I found The Gynae Centre online, filled in my details and had an appointment the very next day. I was sent some medication that day, and received it the following day. The whole process from start to finish was 2 days, not the expected 6 weeks wait with the NHS.

"I found the clinician very helpful, and understanding of my situation. I also received a check up email the following week, to make sure everything was okay and if I needed any more support."

We understand that you want to be seen as quickly as possible, especially when you’re concerned about your symptoms or you have a time-sensitive concern. At The Gynae Centre, we aim to offer short waiting times, and where possible, same-day appointments, so that you can move forward with clarity and care.

What does an “abnormal smear” mean?

Being told you have an abnormal smear result can feel worrying, but it’s important to know that this is very common and very rarely means cancer. It simply means that some cervical cells look slightly different, and in many cases these minor changes return to normal on their own.

Sometimes, closer monitoring is recommended. This may involve a colposcopy — a straightforward follow-up test that allows specialists to take a closer look at the cervix and, if needed, collect a small biopsy. In this video, we gently explain what to expect during a colposcopy.
