Thank you .viner for this lovely feedback and sharing the value of having a doula! I’m very lucky to support such wonderful families and to be able to join them at such a special time in their lives ❤️
Posted • .viner This post is way overdue as my son is now almost 3+ months. That’s exactly how far along in my pregnancy I was when I realised how babies were born (I mean, I knew where they came from obviously, but I never really stopped and thought about HOW they came out…) 😱😳
Safe to say, panic ensued. I knew I had to seek help. A few of my friends had mentioned using a “doula”. I had no idea what that was. After some research I’ve realised I absolutely had to have one to help me on this journey!
viner was very sceptical and didn’t see the point of having one. But seeing the fear in my eyes, agreed to get one. After many many interviews, I’ve finally found the ONE. The doula that would be there to educate us, inform us, empower us as a family, about birth.
Within the first few seconds of our call with , I knew she’d be the right person for us. Although Richard insistently kept saying this was all for me… what he found during labour is that she was supporting me as much as she’s supported him.
HER SUPPORT:
Weeks leading up to labour, she’s prepared us by educating us on the natural journey a labour takes and taught us all the tools we needed for it to go as smooth as possible.
She’s provided vital information about my rights.
Lent me books.
And most importantly a safe space to discuss anything we wanted and needed.
Giving birth is intense, it’s hard, it’s long (like this post, sorry!). But it’s also magical. I am so glad I shared such an intimate moment with you, Laura 💖. You were like a mother figure who created the right atmosphere for me to feel safe and supported and you guided Richard so beautifully that I fell in love with him again! 😍
For that we will forever be grateful to you.
