The Family Naturopath

The Family Naturopath Supporting you naturally from preconception to postpartum. Naturopathy aims to bring the body back into balance treating the cause of illness, not the symptoms.

Naturopathy, also known as complementary medicine or therapies, uses natural means of healing which have been validated through scientific research. This provides the body with an opportunity to begin healing. As a Naturopath I work to support you as a whole. I acknowledge how your health concern makes you feel and how you experience it. I take into consideration biochemical interactions influenced by diet and medications, and musculoskeletal aspects of posture and breathing. This means I treat you as an individual rather than a set of symptoms. Symptoms are the body telling us that something is not right. By getting to the root of the cause and treating that rather than symptoms helps establish balance and health. After finding the cause of the symptoms, I create an individual treatment plan for you. I also look after mother and baby during pregnancy and beyond. Reflexology and massage are the primary treatments, but I can also include essential oils, herbs, and nutrition to boost your and your baby's health. This ensures that you and your baby are looked after in a natural and non-invasive way.

To all you breastfeeding mummies who have persevered —
through the pain,
through the pressure to stop,
through the unwanted and unhelpful comments when you’re simply feeding your child…

I see you. I hear you. And I’m so proud of you 💚
You deserve to feel proud of yourself too.

Today I’m sharing a little about my own journey with breastfeeding in public — from those hazy newborn days to more recently, navigating feeds with an emotionally charged three-year-old.

Every stage looks different, and every story matters ✨

For a long time, the question “Do you have children?” felt heavy.

My journey to becoming a parent wasn’t the one I expected — and it shaped the way I show up for families today: with compassion, gentleness, and passion.

If your path has twists too, you’re not alone 🤍

A little bit about living with a blood cancer. A little bit about being quiet as I’ve had a couple of lurgies. A little bit about work. (Brand new newsletter is in my bio links.).

She’s 4! I haven’t made a cake in forever. Clearly 🤣. But it tasted pretty good. And yes. It’s a standard Victoria sponge. With a lot of sugar in it. But. Life is about balance. And eaten and enjoyed sounded by family and love.

’ve actually started. I have a chapter plan - and yes. I have embraced chat gpt to help me. I have all these ideas, have no idea where to start. Get overwhelmed and don’t do anything. So I have started to use a bit of AI to help guide me. But. I will write it, that won’t be chat GPT.

And whilst I could write the book with the knowledge I have in my head, I am going to refresh and make sure I don’t confuse anything. And there will be references. I don’t know if I will include them in the book, but I will have a list.

Because everything I do is guided by my number 1 Naturopathic principle. Do no harm.

So the textbooks are back out. As will the research paper search and reading. Because I’m also science degree qualified. And research where it exists will always back my choices.

Low moments happen. Getting outside, seeing friends, and listening to music help.

Why I’m not doing Veganuary 🌱

For me, sustainability isn’t about cutting out entire food groups—it’s about how food is produced.

Local, organic & regenerative foods — including responsibly raised meat — can support soil health, biodiversity, and human nutrition 🌍🥩

Real sustainability looks at farming practices, supply chains, and ecosystems… not just labels.

Supporting farmers who work with nature matters more than following food trends.

Skipping the January detox ✨ Especially when preparing for pregnancy. Restriction and ‘reset’ culture can go against our natural rhythm—nourishment and support come first.

Hungry… or just thirsty? 💧🎄
Why hydration matters over Christmas👇

Your body sends the same signal for hunger and thirst.
Until you’re already dehydrated, you’re more likely to feel hungry — not thirsty.

Add in festive food, alcohol, travel and busy days, and hydration can easily slip 🎄

Before reaching for another snack:
💧 Drink some water
⏳ Give it a few minutes
🍽 Then check in with what you actually need

Staying hydrated can support:
✔ digestion
✔ energy levels
✔ fewer “mindless” snack urges

Save this for Christmas week 💛

A simple Christmas plate upgrade 🎄🥦

Aim for ½ your plate or bowl filled with vegetables — and try to include at least 3 different colours 🌈

More colour = more fibre, micronutrients and better blood sugar support.

🥕🥦🌶️ Think greens, reds, oranges and yellows

And a gentle reminder 👇
🥔 White potatoes don’t count as a vegetable here — they’re a starch, so enjoy them alongside your veg, not instead of them.

This isn’t about restriction — it’s about balance so you can enjoy Christmas food and still feel good ✨

Save this for festive meals 💛
