The Family Naturopath

The Family Naturopath Supporting you naturally from preconception to postpartum. Naturopathy aims to bring the body back into balance treating the cause of illness, not the symptoms.

Naturopathy, also known as complementary medicine or therapies, uses natural means of healing which have been validated through scientific research. This provides the body with an opportunity to begin healing. As a Naturopath I work to support you as a whole. I acknowledge how your health concern makes you feel and how you experience it. I take into consideration biochemical interactions influenced by diet and medications, and musculoskeletal aspects of posture and breathing. This means I treat you as an individual rather than a set of symptoms. Symptoms are the body telling us that something is not right. By getting to the root of the cause and treating that rather than symptoms helps establish balance and health. After finding the cause of the symptoms, I create an individual treatment plan for you. I also look after mother and baby during pregnancy and beyond. Reflexology and massage are the primary treatments, but I can also include essential oils, herbs, and nutrition to boost your and your baby's health. This ensures that you and your baby are looked after in a natural and non-invasive way.

Right. A bit of honesty. I have been quiet on social media because of complete overwhelm. What to talk about. Which bit of advice to share. How can I help you. Or rather. Which single thing to focus on to tell you about. Because I do so much. And it’s genuinely amazing. And helpful. And simple. And all I want to do is help you and your family so you don’t need me. But where to begin.

I have signed up for help with . I just need to do the work.

With only 2 or 3 days a week without a small person around it’s hard. When she’s not here I just want to lie on the sofa, rest, recharge and feel energised again for when she’s back.

But I want to be working more. I need to be working more.

So a bit of a brain dump. Because it makes me feel better.

And as always, if anyone wants to book in. Please let me know!

And as always, if you want any nutrition support that’s non judgemental and you won’t get told off!! Book in by either sending me a dm or comment below. You can have a one off ‘quick food blitz’ thats 55 minutes and £115 or you can have a series of sessions (55 minutes and £115 each), depending on your aim.

I’m meant to be writing new website copy about my Postnatal Doula offering but instead I’m gazing out of the window watching the world go by….

So EASY! Cut up some (all organic) broccoli, mushrooms and red pepper and cook in some butter with a large saucepan lid covering the frying pan. When it’s cooked turn the heat off and stir through a load of spinach.

Whilst it’s cooking, boil the kettle (to make the egg cooking quicker) and then soft boil two (organic) eggs in a saucepan.

Whilst the above is cooking, put a piece of gluten free toast in the toaster. Toast it.

Put it all on a plate/in a bowl. Liberally cover with sriracha and a sprinkle of sea salt.

Eat.

Be happy.

Been a bit quiet again… been dealing with a child with chickenpox. But yesterday we managed to do a bit of baking. These are based on a baby weaning recipe I found a couple of years ago so the majority of it is not my idea and I can’t remember which Instagram account it’s from. I tweaked it a bit.
(Everything I used was organic)

- 2 bananas mashed
- 90g oats
-a big handful of blueberries
- a generous sprinkle of pumpkin seeds
- 240g full fat milk
- some ground almonds - I just added it until the consistency was less wet

Spooned it into a muffin tray and baked at 180 for about 25ish minutes.

The milk, seeds and almonds provide good sources of fat to help stabilise blood sugar levels so it’s not just a sugar hit. The oats have some protein in and fibre. The berries have a load of antioxidants in them and the bananas have minerals. Combined the ingredients also provide a load of essential vitamins and minerals - b vitamins, zinc, magnesium - all these things also help with fertility. There’s so much good nutrition in these, they are a really good choice for anyone in the family.

Today has been hard. I think not having my 3 year old this weekend and being at my parents. I’ve been able to sit and literally have no one else to think about since Saturday mid morning. And it’s been tough. I really miss my pup, I’m still processing my relationship ending and the choices made by my ex and still coming to terms with things.

And it’s hard.

But you also need this space to allow things to filter and process and to cry. And to take a load of Rescue Remedy. And to buy a ‘share bag’ size of Wotsits. And to question. And wonder. And take more Rescue Remedy. And go for a walk.

Because as cliched as it is. Getting outside with nature in whatever form that it - a country walk, a walk in the park, walking on pavements with lots of trees planted in it, admiring people’s gardens as you go by. Makes our souls happy.

Happy eating chocolate for breakfast day everyone! Or should I say, Happy Easter!

I’ve been a bit quiet over the last few days. I picked up Luna Pups ashes on Monday and I’ve just sort of lost the social media mojo. My sleep has also been interrupted by a little b**b monster who now has chicken pox and I wonder if the sudden increase in how much b**by cuddle she wanted was her immune system knowing she needed more breast milk. Although in all honesty, I don’t know how much I produce anymore. Very little I think. But every drop contains so much amazing stuff, even though she’s now 3.

So today, sitting in my parents garden as she’s with her father this weekend. I feel very reflective. Which I suppose is fitting as this weekend was originally a pagan festival of fertility and spring awakening and then the Christian festival of the re-birth of Jesus. (I’m a very bad Catholic but at times, I do engage and it does impact). Is making me pause.

And it all links in with my work and my sort of new me/focus with my preconception to postnatal work and recent training.

And well. What a waffle. But I’m here, if lurking a little bit… but you know, obviously still book in etc!

Well. It’s been a busy few days. And tonight the 3 year old is with her father. I’m not going to lie, I’m knackered. So a very easy post bath supper. Two free range poached eggs. An entire bunch of asparagus. 2 pieces of gluten free toast. Topped off with a load of organic butter.
