Protein is *not* just a trend. It’s vital to include enough high-quality protein in your diet for a healthy functioning body.

It is particularly important to consume foods containing essential and semi-essential amino acids as these cannot be made by the body. Look for ‘complete proteins’ that can we found in meat, poultry, dairy, soy, buckwheat etc.

Ingesting protein is a nonnegotiable for health and a helpful aid for weight loss 🤝🛡️

🍗1. It is particularly important to eat enough protein when on a calorie restrictive diet (e.g. when on GLP-1) as this will reduce the amount of muscle lost during this time. Remember protein is used for much much more than just skeletal muscle tissue, so when the body is not getting enough dietary protein, it breaks down ‘non vital’ protein sources (skeletal muscle) and redirects it to ‘vital’ uses (brain function, immune system etc)
⭐️2. Quality matters. Many protein products branded as ‘healthy’ are in truth filled with artificial and harmful additives that may be doing more harm to you in the long term than good. Dairy from low quality and cheap sources may include unwanted substances such as stress hormones. Opt for certified organic, grass fed dairy where possible.
> 3. Increasing the variety of protein sources that you ingest helps to meet your quota for all essential amino acids, broadens your nutrient profile and keeps meal times interesting and enjoyable.
> 4. Remember to eat protein throughout the day to make sure you reach optimal protein absorption and give your body the best chance for muscle synthesis.
