We were so honoured to welcome Deputy Lord Lieutenant Richard Kornicki of Ealing to The Lodge last week! 🏅✨

Today is National Disability Independence Day and we want to shine a light on one of our services 🌟
Dare to Dream is a project helps adults with learning disabilities build independence and confidence, with the end goal of moving into paid work

With the support of our amazing team, participants set goals, gain valuable skills, and find real work experience in the community.

Here are some highlights from our recent work experiences— we took over Ealing Council, gave the staff a run for their money doing their jobs for them! We also had an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to work at Brentford FC ⚽

Last week our amazing Dare to Dream members—Crystal, Marcus, and Steve—took part in a fantastic volunteering opportunity with The Felix Project! 🌱✨

Not only did they build their confidence and customer service skills, but they also made a real difference by helping to deliver fresh vegetables to families who need it most. By working together, they helped reach families who are struggling financially, ensuring they have healthy food.

We’re so proud of their hard work and community spirit! 💚

🎉 Join Our Ealing Mencap 60th Anniversary Charity Walk! 🚶‍♀️🌳

We’re celebrating 60 amazing years of Ealing Mencap with a special Charity Walk on Saturday, 19th July 2025, starting at 10:30am.

✨ Enjoy a relaxing walk through beautiful green spaces
✨ Choose from two scenic routes:

-Northala Fields to Enterprise Lodge

-Hounslow House to Enterprise Lodge

✨ Meet new people, connect with our community, and help raise awareness for our work supporting people with learning disabilities.

The walk will last around 3 hours, and you’re welcome to bring loved ones, friends, or come solo. You can also join or leave the walk at any point along the way.

We’re SO excited to share that our brand new Dare to Dream Showroom is now OPEN — and what an amazing Grand Opening it was! ✨

We were honoured to have Grace Quansah, Councillor, officially open the showroom and help us kick off this exciting new chapter.

Our vibrant, colourful space at:

Every handcrafted piece you’ll find here is made with love, care, and incredible talent by our amazing trainees, supported by our dedicated team.

A big thank you to Berkeley Group, and for inviting us to the fantastic event at on Thursday.

It was wonderful to be part of a day dedicated to young people and to see so many different activities bringing the community together. From new sports to creative workshops, the energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved was truly inspiring.

Programmes like Street Elite show the real difference that can be made when organisations work together to support young people, especially those facing challenges and barriers.

At Ealing Mencap, we believe strongly in creating opportunities for everyone, and it’s encouraging to see shared values in action across our local area.

Thanks again for including us. We’re excited about the possibilities for future collaborations that help build a more inclusive and connected community.

🌞 Hot Weather Update – Keeping Safe and Our Services 🌞

With the hot weather affecting many parts of the country, we want to reassure everyone that our services are running as usual, and we’re here to support you, your families, and our community.

We’re taking extra steps to keep everyone safe, including:
✅ Monitoring temperatures and ventilation in our buildings
✅ Encouraging staff and visitors to stay hydrated and take breaks
✅ Adjusting some activities to avoid the hottest times of day

We’re especially mindful of people with learning disabilities, who might need extra support to stay safe and comfortable in the heat. Please check in with anyone who may find it harder to understand or cope with the hot weather.

Here are some simple tips to help you stay safe in the heat:
💧 Drink plenty of water, even if you’re not thirsty
👒 Wear light, loose clothing and a hat outdoors
🏠 Keep rooms cool by closing blinds or curtains during the day
🤝 Check in on elderly relatives, neighbours, or anyone vulnerable, including people with learning disabilities
🚫 Avoid strenuous activities in the middle of the day when it’s hottest
