📣 Speaker Announcement – NeuroBloom 2025

Nutritious Minds Trust Charity 🍓 is thrilled to welcome Claire Hallam as a guest speaker at NeuroBloom 2025 – our one-day conference taking place on Friday 31st October 2025 at The Exchange, Twickenham in support of ADHD awareness month.

🍴Claire is a highly experienced dietitian and campaigner whose career spans from Amnesty International and the Department of Health to her current pioneering work leading the dietetic service across six London prisons. She works directly with the Ministry of Justice and catering teams to champion healthier menus and advocate for better nutrition in prisons.

⚖️ She will be joining Session 5: Reforming Systems where we will be discussing much needed Education and the Justice System changes for our neurodivergent community. Alongside David Breakspear and Lucy Vincent we will shine a light on disrupting and preventing the playground-to-prison pipeline and the urgent need for systemic reform – including the role of nutrition in justice settings. ❓🙋🏻‍♀️👦🏻Are you a screen-addicted family?

🚆I’ve been commuting to London several times a week, and I’m quite surprised that almost everyone in my morning carriage is staring at their screen. While I’m utterly reliant on my smartphone too, I still very much enjoy reading a newspaper or a book, writing notes in my journal, and even enjoying some quiet time with my eyes closed.

🔬It’s made me think about research I recently came across implying that AI—specifically ChatGPT—is, for want of a better term, “dumbing down” the nation.
As a neuroscientist, I’m aware that both structural and functional changes have been observed in prefrontal/ACC/insula networks linked to impulse control, emotional regulation, and attention in problematic over-users (Montag & Becker, 2023). We are living through a global mobile digital revolution, arguably driven by social media, that has impacted everyone—from preschoolers to adolescents, university students, and even some grandparents.

🧠In school-aged children, multimedia multitasking is linked to weaker attentional/behavioural control and to mental-health strain (poorer mental health) (Cardoso-Leite et al., 2021).

🤰🏼The controversial view adopted by Gabor Maté is that attention is acquired and nurtured through secure attachments. We are now questioning those links in relation to attachments during a time when two-year-olds are “babysat” with tablets.

💻 However, for neurodivergent learners, tools such as Microsoft Copilot can help with planning and executing documents, combating procrastination, and reducing motivational deficits.

📱For children, unlike recent action taken down under (Australia), I can’t see the UK banning social media for under-16s anytime soon—but I may be wrong.

⚖️Ultimately, balance, boundaries, and bedtime docking are key! One day we might become hybrid blends of AI and humans—but for now, thankfully, they are mere hypothetical extensions (which we get to control… or do we?).

📣 Speaker Announcement – NeuroBloom 2025

🎙️ We are delighted to welcome Dr. Kevin Patrick Rigley as a guest speaker at NeuroBloom 2025, our one-day conference in honour of ADHD Awareness Month, taking place on Friday, 31st October 2025 at The Exchange, Twickenham.

🔬 Dr. Rigley is a PhD immunologist, cognitive theorist, and reformer in early childhood education. His early career in cellular immunology produced over 20 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as PNAS, Blood, Vaccine, and the European Journal of Immunology, as well as the co-edited volume Lymphocyte Signalling: Mechanisms, Subversion and Manipulation (1997).

🕊️After the sudden death of his first wife, Kevin left academia to raise his two sons — an experience that reshaped his views on cognition, resilience, and the biology of becoming. Later, through inheriting Willows Preschools from his late partner Galyna, Kevin observed developmental patterns that mainstream science had overlooked, leading to the creation of Inflamed Minds.

💻 He is the developer of the TGTS (Thought Generator–Thought Selector) model, the SIPS framework, and the Willowsway curriculum, which together reframe childhood not as preparation for life, but as life itself — a critical window where thought, freedom, and identity are formed. Kevin is also the founder of the Willows MINDMAP cognitive profiling app, author of SIPS (2025), and the voice behind Rethinking Neurodiversity. His upcoming book will challenge how society defines neurodivergence, rethink early education, and reclaim childhood in the Anthropocene.

🎟 Don’t miss the chance to hear Dr. Rigley and other thought leaders at NeuroBloom 2025.
