A new multi-centre study, “Long-Term Outcomes in Adults with Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV),” has been published led by several of consultants from Royal Brompton and harefield hospitals and other experts.

DORV is a complex congenital heart condition, and thanks to advances in care, more patients now live well into adulthood. This study — the largest of its kind — followed 254 adults over more than 20 years to understand their long-term outcomes.

Key findings:
-heart failure and sudden cardiac death remain leading causes of late mortality.
-heart rhythm problems were common, affecting nearly one-third of patients.
-lifelong specialist follow-up is essential for early detection and intervention.

We’re incredibly proud of our colleagues for their ongoing commitment to advancing care and improving outcomes for adults with congenital heart disease.
