As the year speeds up, our bodies often slow down, not from lack of effort, but from lack of recovery.
And if there’s one thing we see every day at arc, it’s this:

Meet Paddy ✨

A breathwork teacher and meditation coach, Paddy leads our Dopamine Reset and Sleep Reset sessions - both designed to help you slow down, unwind, and let go.

After facing his own health challenges in his 20s, Paddy discovered breathwork as a way to heal and reconnect with his body. It became a daily practice - one that taught him calm, patience, and how to truly breathe through stress.

Living and teaching in the centre of London, he’s seen how constant movement and pressure can leave people disconnected from themselves. His sessions are an invitation to pause - to use arc as a bridge between how you arrive and how you leave.

Through breath, sound, scent and contrast therapy, Paddy helps guide people back to balance - creating a moment of stillness in the midst of the city.

“I’m an actor, a boxer, and a facilitator but really, I’m someone who loves bringing my full self into everything I do. Acting gives me the freedom to explore. Boxing keeps me disciplined and sharp. And facilitating is where I get to share that energy with others.
Day to day, I try to live with balance, moving my body, creating, and finding little moments of stillness. For me, it’s about showing up honestly, wherever I am, and helping others feel like they can do the same.”

A major review of over 300,000 people found that those with strong social relationships live significantly longer than those who are isolated (Holt-Lunstad et al., 2010). And those who were isolated had a higher risk of mortality equatable to smoking 15 ci******es a day!
Social connection helps regulate mood, reduce cortisol, and buffer against anxiety and depression.

In collaboration with ALIVE we are running a speciality workshop where we merge guided contrast therapy and rituals with holistic practices including breathwork, somatic therapy and slow movement to work deeper into establishing a strong mind-body connection.

This workshop will allow you to experience and take away simple but effective techniques that you can apply on your own at the time when you feel anxious, stuck, tired or overwhelmed. We’ll breathe, stretch and connect in tune to a curated playlist and use essential oils to make your experience multi sensory and relaxing.

Hormesis is at the core of arc. It is a healthy and temporary* stressor that challenges homeostasis, prompting the body to adapt and build greater physiological and psychological resilience.

Examples include:
Exercise
Breathwork
Meditation
Psychedelic therapy
Contrast therapy

Through discipline, the body shifts, adapts and fights through the discomfort to find a surge in mood (through neuroplasticity and natural dopamine), disease prevention, and long term strength.

With acute stress + *recovery = you get stronger (aka hormesis).

The recovery is a crucial piece to this equation. Without proper recovery, the mind and body moves into chronic stress, inflammation, and disease.

Hormesis plays a massive role in longevity, lifespan, and disease prevention. These low levels of stress cause adaptation on a cellular level through cellular defences, damage repair, oxidative stress (inflammatory) tolerance, and enhance immune function throughout the body.

Work with stress, keep it in check, don’t be afraid of it.
