Autumn equinox

Perhaps the marking of time the most introspective.

The joy and youth of summer is passing and we will all be spending more time indoors, less outward movement.

I find it beautiful to see natures acceptance of letting go.
Becoming more fierce and dramatic with winds and lashing rain in its willingness to turn in and wait to start again.

Take stock of what you have achieved this year, what have you made? Or grown? Or altered?

Rest in the fullness of the end of summer.

Welcoming in this very autumnal day today.

It's the season for collecting up the beautiful hips and haws that summer has provided for medicine and food.

I have been squirreling away and collecting plants to make medicine to sustain my clients and myself over the autumn and winter months.

What plants do you use to tide you over the colder months?

And here she is😍🌿.

A leaf and berry tincture will sit for approximately 6 weeks whilst the alcohol extracts the medicinal constituents from the plant.

Constituents like; rutin, flavonoids, procyanidins and antioxidants, promoting cardiovascular system health and resilience.

I am of the belief that the physical has a shadow and what is done to the physical body impacts the spirit body too.

Hello beautiful 😍
The hawthorn trees are now heavy with the haw's such a huge bounty this year.

Hawthorn is steeped in folklore, always a good sign of its reverence and power.
Called the hag tree, the witches tree, among many of its colloquial names.

In myth it is said that that the crown of thorns made for jesus was made of hawthorn.

It was said to never bring hawthorn blossom in before mayday and became known as the plague tree. Fun fact the blossom contains the chemical trimethylamine, which is produced when animal tissue decomposes, so perhaps don't add it to the wedding bouquet just yet.

Hawthorn has been shown to strengthen the heart muscle, lower blood pressure and regulate the rhythm. A true heart medicine.

All of us have had our hearts broken, whether through a lover, loss of friends and family, loss of part of ourselves or something else which sank our hearts, this medicine can lift our hearts.

These berries will be made into a tincture and prescribed to my patients, with love and attention.

Just some of the abundance to be found at Cranford park, their very own orchard is heavy with nearly harvest ready fruits!

Rose family plants like apple and blackberries are rich in anthocyanins, really important for heart and venous health, along side supporting the emotional heart.

Symbolic gestures of love within the rose family are not accidental, they're inextricably linked to our emotional heart and always ready to uplift.
