The sympathetic nervous system work prepares you for action, we need this and it has a surge in energy to fight or flight. Should this surge in the sympathetic nervous system persist then it develops symptoms of stress or trauma. Your system can find regulation again through therapy. It also incorporates belief, emotions, perceptions etc but we keep coming back to the body to go into the deepest and oldest part of the brain structure, the stem, to be with sensations, posture, and we incorportate movement.
