Meet Kate, the founder of I Know This Girl. 🧘‍♀️

We’ve had so much exciting stuff going on at IKTG I thought this was a good time to reintroduce myself and what this community is all about.

Like many of you, I’ve made the transition from working a ‘normal job’ in the corporate world (I was a project manager in the branding world) to discovering holistic practices for my own healing and then choosing to share them with the world for a living.

Many holistic practices have supported my health and wellbeing but crystal singing bowls have a special place in my heart. When I first experienced a sound bath, I had been struggling to find the calm and inner peace so many experience through meditation. Years of chronic anxiety and undiagnosed ADHD didn’t help!

Being in the presence of the healing vibrations of crystal singing bowls switched off my mind and relaxed my body like nothing else. It was amazing and I had to find out more!

After engaging in my own training, practice and working for a singing bowl company, I started I Know This Girl in 2021, my own singing bowl shop. This is a sound sanctuary where you can access high-quality hand-crafted crystal singing bowls and expert guidance for starting or developing your collection.

We have built a wonderful community of sound practitioners and singing bowl lovers. A couple of years ago, I felt the call to serve my community in a new way. As a sound practitioner myself, I was interested in other instruments, rituals and items that would enhance my sound baths.

I wanted to share my discoveries with all of you so I expanded the shop into sound, ceremony and sleep collections and have been launching new products this year.

As you can tell, it’s been quite the journey. I’m grateful for every single chapter of it!

📣 New to IKTG… Mini Incense Discovery Set.

I love creating immersive sensory experiences both in the sound baths I run for clients and my own wellbeing practices at home. I find that exploring different rituals deepens the relaxation.

One of the ways I activate the senses is through incense. With the introduction of our very own incense dish, handmade by Fair Trade artisans in Nepal, I thought this was the perfect time to add incense sticks to the shop too.

I started by finding an incense brand that aligned with IKTG values. I tested multiple before deciding on The Mothers India fragrances. I chose them for two main reasons, first, the scent as they smell divine and second, their ethics. They are Fair Trade, handcrafted, use plastic-free packaging and plant a tree for every order I place!

Then, I tested over 20 different incense scents before deciding on the 5 in the I Know This Girl Mini Incense Discovery Set. Each was chosen to support different energetic states, from grounding and meditative to uplifting and heart-opening. Set the perfect tone for your space.

Introducing the IKTG sound meditation cushion ✨

Designing this product has been a dream come true!

I have been playing crystal singing bowls for about 9 years now. In all that time, I could never find a cushion that felt quite right.

It was the same story with every cushion. When I sat upright on them, like you would when meditating, they felt great.

But when I leaned forward and shifted my weight to play a set of singing bowls, it got uncomfortable as they allowed for no movement from the hips. I’ve left many sound baths with a sore sitbone!

As I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I decided to create it. Our sound meditation cushion is made for sound practitioners. It feels lovely when you sit on it to meditate and you don’t lose the support when you move around to play the bowls.

This is because of the high-density foam sourced from the UK. It provides a steady foundation. The removable sleeve is handmade and screen-printed by our amazing ethical artisans in Nepal. In this design, we’ve been able to combine mindful craftsmanship with practical function.

What’s in the IKTG shop right now? (New launches! 📣)

There is so much exciting stuff going on in the I Know This Girl shop at the moment.

Firstly, I have just added the final pieces (for now!) in the Sound, Ceremony and Sleep launch.

💤 We have started the Sleep collection with a cotton eye mask in forest green. It comes with a travel bag which makes it perfect for taking to sound baths. It’s made with soft, breathable cotton by Fair Trade artisans in Nepal.

✨ We have expanded the Ceremony collection with a sound meditation cushion. Our dedicated partners in Nepal have handmade and screen-printed the removal sleeve. The foam insert is premium high-density foam sourced from the UK.

I am so proud of this design because it supports posture and positioning when playing singing bowls in a way I could never find in other cushions. It gives you the freedom of movement and comfort of support in one.

🎶 I always recommend setting intentions when playing your bowls. Here’s why…

Crystal singing bowls have a powerful effect on energy. They are made of crystal quartz which is known for amplifying all types of energy.

So, whatever you bring to the singing bowls sessions, whether you are playing or simply listening, has the power to be transformed.

If you set an intention at the beginning, the healing vibrations will amplify it. As you go into deeper brain wave states, the unconscious changes that need to happen for your intention to manifest can take place.

Your intention doesn’t have to be anything complicated. It could be how you want to feel after the session. Or it could be the next big step you want to take with your life. Whatever you need in that moment on that day.

📍 Our next sound bath in Bristol.

I’m loving being back into the swing of hosting regular sound healing events.

Our monthly ecstatic dance & sound bath is a really special event because it combines the power of movement with healing vibrations, allowing the body to release, reset and re-energise for the week ahead. Coming together like this on a monthly basis is enabling us to build a beautiful community where everyone feels safe and supported.
