At Dad Matters Haringey we are trying to find the best ways to help dads in our local communities who feel marginalised and have no voice.

I spoke at a Haringey Professionals meeting at George Meehan House about how we can collaborate to approach and support dads during this significant time of their lives.

If you, or someone you know, is a new dad and wants some support and information, please contact dadmatters@hshhandwf.org and we will be in contact!

If you are, or know of, any parents who would like to spend more time with their child(ren) but can't because:
- they don't live near to them
- they can't take them back to their house (i.e. shared accommodation, unsuitable for children)
- they don't have anywhere that is warm, dry, safe, fun enough to take them
- their child(ren)’s other parent doesn’t want them spending alone time with them (or is unhappy with how they spend time together)
Called ā€˜A Place For Us’, we can arrange individual play sessions for parents and children who don’t live together. They can book regular, convenient time slots in a convenient family hub (Muswell Hill, South Tottenham, Northumberland Park or Wood Green).
Additionally, we can:
- help them agree the new arrangement with the parent/adult their child(ren) live(s) with
- arrange fun activities for them to do with their child(ren), like cooking, crafts, games
- support the parent and child(ren) during 'A Place For Us' sessions
Funded by the Accelerate fund from Haringey Council and the Family Hubs programme, this is *free* for separated parents of children who live in Haringey. I’ve attached a poster and there are more details here: www.pathsthroughchange.com/apfu They can also contact hello@paththroughchange.com to sign up.

Do you know of any dads/uncles/step-dads (25-44yo) who are keen to FOCUS on their wellbeing? Haringey Council with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and Paths Through Change C.I.C.) are co-designing a programme – with the men who choose to attend – to help them to:

Feel heard
Understand their own needs and
Put practical strategies into practice

With a choice of various available sessions (including stress management, family life, mental health and conflict) the programme runs over 4 Tuesdays at 11am at the Northumberland Park Family Hub, ending with a tour of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Children are welcome to join during the sessions falling in the upcoming school holidays. To book or for queries, email hello@pathsthroughchange.com

Parenthood can be an incredible journey filled with moments of joy, but let's be real – it's not always a walk in the park. There are days that feel lonely, frustrating, and downright overwhelming. And you know what? That's OK. We've all been there.

If you're finding parenting a bit challenging right now, know that you're not alone. Every parent encounters hurdles, and sometimes, seeking a little support can make a world of difference.

The Early Childhood and Family Service is here to help all families living in Norfolk with at least one child under 6 years old - including expectant parents. Need some extra support to make life better for you and your family? It's OK to ask for help.
