Baby Loss Awareness Week 💗

At Sydney Hurry & Co, we regularly support families in our local community who are experiencing the heartbreak of pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

Even if just one family goes through this pain, it is one too many. 💔

From 9th – 15th October 2025, we will be supporting Sands during Baby Loss Awareness Week.

We stand with every parent, sibling, grandparent, and loved one whose hearts carry the memory of a precious baby gone too soon.

We invite you to dedicate a ribbon on our Sands display as a symbol of love, remembrance, and support. Together, we remember. Together, we break the silence.

💗 Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025 💗

This October, we will be marking Baby Loss Awareness Week with a special Sands ribbon display in our window.

We invite our community to take part by dedicating a ribbon in memory of a precious baby gone too soon. Whether it’s your own little one, a family member, or simply to show support, every ribbon helps raise awareness and lets families know they are not alone.

If you would like to dedicate a ribbon, please pop into the branch or send us a message, and we will add your ribbon to the display with care.

Together, we remember. Together, we break the silence. 💕

We were delighted to sponsor this year’s Young Barnet Foundation Charity Golf Day ⛳💜

The day was a fantastic success with great weather, community spirit, and plenty of energy on the course. Most importantly, it helped to raise vital funds to support children and young people in Barnet who are living in poverty or struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the Young Barnet Foundation can continue to provide access to mental health services, sports, creative opportunities, and safe spaces that make a real difference to young lives.

We are proud to have played a part in this event and look forward to supporting again in the future.

Meet Viva – Funeral Arranger, Funeral Plan Consultant & Memorial Consultant at Sydney Hurry & Co Funeral Directors in Edgware

1. What inspired you to work in the funeral profession?
I’ve always been drawn to roles that involve helping people during difficult times. Being able to offer reassurance, guidance and practical support to families when they need it most felt like the right path for me.

2. What do you find most rewarding about your role?
It’s knowing that I’ve helped make a difficult experience a little more manageable for someone. Whether that’s creating a meaningful send

off, easing the financial worry through a funeral plan, or designing a memorial that truly reflects a loved one every part of the journey matters.

3. How long have you worked in the industry?
I’ve been in the profession for several years now, and each family I meet teaches me something new. It’s a role that constantly evolves, and I’m always learning.

4. What does a typical day look like for you at Sydney Hurry?
No two days are ever the same. I might be meeting with a family to arrange a funeral, helping someone plan ahead with a funeral plan, or advising on memorials. Our branch also has a wash and dress facility and a large chapel, so I often support with those elements as well.

5. What would you say makes Sydney Hurry special?
We’re a close-knit, welcoming team, and the fact that we have facilities like a private wash & dress room, a large chapel, and an in-branch funeral plan consultant makes a real difference. Walk-ins are always welcome, and we’re here whenever people need us.

6. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love spending time with my children but when I get a chance to switch off from work and mum mode, I enjoy a good night out.

7. Is there a personal motto you live by?
“Treat people how you’d want your own loved one to be treated.” That mindset guides every decision I make in my role.

8. What would you like people to know about you and your role?
That I genuinely care. I’m not just here to arrange logistics! I am here to listen, support, and help you create something beautiful in honor of your loved one. You don’t need to have all the answers, that’s what I’m here for.

Tea .

11. Describe your perfect day off.
A lazy morning with the kids, then dropping them off to their dad’s or Nans 🙈 so I can go out and enjoy myself!
