HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE⬇️:

Routine Podiatry (30 min): Our routine podiatry service is perfect for those on the go who want to slot in a quick 30 minute appointment for everyday foot problems. 👣

However if you sometimes wondered whether you need podiatry or a pedicure. Why not have both!

At Feet Foremost, Dan can combine the medical expertise of a podiatry treatment for your foot problems with the relaxing pampering experience of a pedicure. Perfect for tired, achy feet and legs.

Introducing the Medi-Pedi (45 mins): This extended experience starts with a ten minute soak in our relaxing bubble foot spa containing dead sea mineral salts. The warm gentle motion of the bubbles not only relaxes the skin and tissues, but also provides gentle exfoliation.

Your podiatry treatment then commences with nail care and hard / dry skin removal, and will identify and treat any additional routine foot problems noted. The feet and nails are then moisturized in addition to a relaxing calf massage.

✨Please note that the Medi-Pedi does not include biomechanical examination or orthotics.

At Feet Foremost we provide customised bespoke insole and orthotic solutions for a wide range of foot problems.

Insoles
Custom insoles are particularly effective in managing painful pressure related conditions under the foot, like:
- Corns
- Lack of natural padding
- Challenging foot shapes.

Unlike ‘off the shelf products’ our insoles are ‘tailor made’ to fit your shoes.

They can incorporate bespoke padding to cushion and offload pressure from specific areas of the foot, allowing you to walk in comfort and pain free. They can also incorporate additional options such as arch supports.

Custom insoles can be made for specific requirement e.g. work or sports footwear.

Orthotics
Orthotics are used to stabilize and correct the alignment of the feet and limbs during walking and other activities.

Orthotics may be indicated where the following symptoms are experience:
- Lack of stability
- Tired aching legs / ankles /feet
- Repeated ankle sprains
- Pain in feet, knee and hip joints during walking /sports.

Did you know that spine and neck pain can also be related to poor posture / joint alignment and can often be alleviated or improved by orthotics😲!

We offer a choice of three quarter or full length orthotics depending on what level of support is needed. All devices are customised for each client in order to address alignment and support issues. Where appropriate, a gait analysis and biomechanical assessment will be undertaken to facilitate this.

So... insoles and orthotics are key to effective treatment and management of many foot and lower limb problems. Call us today for your bespoke solution.

👠👠 Our shoes and boots are often an expression of ourselves and can make us happy and confident. But like most things in life, we have to exercise moderation with our footwear choices.

So what’s the issue? Prolonged use of heels can cause a number of problems. They can:

Increase pressure on front of foot leading to soreness and hard skin build up on the ball of foot as well as toes - increase unsteadiness and risk of falls / trips and ankle sprains, due to narrow heels as well as throwing centre of gravity forward - long term tightness around Achilles tendon and calf muscles - can Influence progression of bunion and toe deformities in some people.

😕But I like wearing my heels - What should I do? Try and avoid or limit wearing heels for everyday walking. Using a foot cream to keep skin soft and flexible will help reduce soreness over pressure points. Avoid uneven ground. Take additional care and precautions if your mobility or balance is impaired.

Remember - keeping your feet healthy and happy allows you to enjoy wearing your heels when you want to for that ‘Must Have’ outfit occasion!

😊 Dan at Feet Foremost Podiatry can offer tailored advice on how you can stay comfortable in your footwear and keep your feet in A1 condition.

Fungal toe nail infections are one of the commonest problems podiatrists deal with in clinic.

Though not serious, they can look unsightly and cause loosening of the nail. These problems can often cause distress and make people feel very self conscious about the appearance of their nails. 😒

What causes them? Fungi are naturally occurring organisms that live around dark, warm, moist places like our feet. Healthy nail resist fungus. However if nails are weak or damaged then fungus can enter them and start growing. Common causes include:

- Sports - football running and golf swimming dancing
- Trauma - something dropped or someone stepping on your toe.
- Hereditary - thin or weak nails can make them more susceptible to infection.
- Disease - psoriasis eczema

What to look out for? Fungal toe nails may present as:

- Yellow / brown discoloration
- Gapping under the nail
- Maybe localised, or spread under the whole nail, loosening it or cause flaking.
- Characteristic cheesy smell

Treatment may depend on the severity of the infection and number of nails affected.

Dan our podiatrist at Feet Foremost can provide professional advice and treatments for eradicating the infection and restoring normal looking nails.😊

🐾Chilblains appear usually on the toes in cold, wet winter conditions. They usually disappear in a couple of weeks, but may persist if the underlying cause is not identified and dealt with. Podiatrists can help with these easily preventable conditions.

What do they look like? They usually present as bright or dark red itchy patches within the affected toes, which often look swollen.

Why do they happen? They often when occur when toes get cold and their circulation becomes sluggish. This results in blood becoming congested in the toe, causing inflammation and swelling.

How to treat them? Anti inflammatory creams can relieve inflammation and help with symptoms. If symptoms persist then contact your GP.

Covering toes with plasters to prevent rubbing and squeezing from footwear and hosiery.

How to avoid them? Keep the feet at an even temperature. Use thermal socks and insoles + thick soled shoes.

Avoid warming feet up too quickly when cold i.e fires, hot baths or electric blankets.

Prevent rubbing and squeezing - avoid tight footwear and socks.

Use a chilblain preventative medication in autumn before weather gets too cold.

At Feet Foremost podiatry services Dan can help! - by giving tailored advice to prevent or identify the specific cause as well as treat your annoying chilblains.
